15-4A All District Selections for 2016 are in and six Lady Pirates were honored. Lady Pirates make all district Ayanna Palmer First Team All-District Senior, Ayanna Palmer. Second Team, All-District Senior Maxie Ivory.

Pirates dominate 4A Region 2 District 1

The Pirate soccer team continues to roll over district opponents. As it stands today, Pittsburg - 5-0-0, Pleasant Grove - 3-2-0, Liberty-Eylau - 0-3-0, and Atlanta - 0-3-0. The top 2 teams in district 13, 4A met for the second time on Thursday after their Tuesday game was postponed because of inclement weather. Pittsburg had won the first meeting with Pleasant Grove, 2-1 in a hotly contested match and the second meeting would live up to everyone’s expectations. “We had a barn burner against Pleasant Grove last night and came out on top,” Coach Tyler Simmons said.

Pirates lead in district soccer

Junior striker Jose Trejo charges the Liberty-Etlau Leopards’ goal to score his second goal of the game. This win puts the Pirates in first place as they go undefeated in the first third of 4A Region II, District 13.The Pirates are now 8 and 6 overall.They will play their other district rivals twice more.

The Pirate power-liing team had a meet in Paris, ursday Feb. 18. Link Emard placed second out of 21 li ers in his weight category. Bones Davis, placed seventh out of 14 and David By placed h out of 21 in their weight categories.

Pirates win first district game

Coach Tyler Simmons reports that the Pirates soccer team have won their first 4A Region 2, District 13 game against Pleasant Grove on Friday, 02-12, by a score of 2-1. The Pirates would get on the board first with a goal by Jose Trejo from a pass by Victor Ponce making the score 1-0. The Hawks were awarded a penalty kick for a hand ball in the goalie box by the Pirates. The first attempt was stopped by Stephen Arciga, but the Hawks would score on the rebound making it 1-1. The first half would end with the score tied 1 to 1. Early in the second half Victor Ponce would give the Pirates the lead with a great shot, making it 2-1. It would be a defensive struggle the rest of the game. The Pirates would even have to play with just 10 players for the last 10 minutes of the game a er one of their players was ejected with a red card.

Kilgore Bulldogs edge out Pirates, 5-3

Coach Simmons reported that the Kilgore Bulldogs got o to a fast start, Friday, Feb. 5, scoring 2 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game, but with about 20 minutes left in the first half Gerardo Moreno would get the Pirates on the board with a beautiful chip shot over the goalies head, making it 2-1. Unfortunately, Kilgore would get one more goal near the end of the first half making it 3-1. The Pirates would come out in the second half fighting hard to get back in the game, but a questionable no call in the Bulldogs goalie box would lead to a 2-point swing, as right a after that Kilgore would score making it 4-1.
