Pirates defeat DeKalb twice in doubleheader

The Pirates played the De Kalb Bears in two non-conference games Monday, March 7. The Pirates dominated play as Pirate pitching held down the Bears. The first game ended 14-3 as the run rule ended play.

Pirate baseball routes Prairieland Patriots, 13-4

In the third meeting of the Pirates and the Patriots, an away game, the Pirate bats dominated play. Jace Wood had three hits, two RBIs, and three QABs. Brett McGee had two hits, and four QABs. Dalton Warrick had two RBIs.

Pirates dominate district 13 4A

Ponce would make a great move to evade the goalie and score to put the Pirates up 2-1 with 15 minutes left in the game. Five minutes later, Ponce would find Jose Trejo, who would capitalize with his second goal of the evening, making it, 3-1. After that, frustration would set in for the Hawks, as one of their players was ejected with a red card, and they would have to finish the game with 10. The Pirates would take advantage of the mismatch in numbers and Jose Trejo would earn the hat trick, with another goal to make it, 4-1.

Lady Pirates shutout Lady Eagles, 8-0

Madison Busch lays down a sacrifice bunt to advance a Lady Pirate runner in Monday’s victory over the New Diana Eagles, 8-0.The Pittsburg Lady Pirates varsity’s Kasey Parker pitched a shutout and blanked New Diana while allowing only four hits. Lady Pirates win, 8-0.

Two Powerlifters place in regionals

Coach Eddie Baca reports that the powerlifting team competed extremely well in White Oak meet advancing three of the Pirates to the regional meet that will be held in Lindale, on Mar. 3. The Pirates advancing are: Bradlee Warrick in the 275 weight class, Link Emard in the 198 weight class and David By in the 165 weight class.

Pittsburg Golf Team wins tournament

Golf Coach Kenneth Shelton reports that the Pittsburg Pirate golf team has won the Lake Fork golf tournament. The tournament was held at the Lake Fork Golf Club in Emory. The course is located on the west bank of the lake. The course is a par 72, 6,017 yard course with water hazards and over 2500 trees. The longest shot from the pro tee is number four, a par five, at 570 yards. Coach Shelton reported the course was very wet, but the greens were in great condition. “It was a little windy 15mph or so and a little cold that morning warming up to high 60’s late in the afternoon. We started at 9:00 am and finished at around 3:30 pm. I didn’t get to count how many teams there were but they placed 10,” Coach Shelton said.

Pirates’ baseball flatten Prairieland 13-1 and again 11-4

Tuesday, Feb. 16, the Pirates varsity baseball team played the Prairieland Patriots in a home game winning 13-1. Brett McGee had three hits, two RBIs*, had six QABs** and walked once. Derick McClellon had two hits, two RBIs and three QABs. Jace Wood had two hits. Mason Months had one RBI. Noah ames had three QABs and three walks. Pitching for the Pirates was Brett McGee with three strikeouts, relieved by Dakota Torrey who had three strikeouts, and nal relief was Gabriel Peters relief pitched two innings.
