Alumni soccer Pirates fall to current Pirates in shootout

By ELLIS KNOX reporter@campcountynow.com

Head soccer coach Tyler Simmons reported that there was quite a show Tuesday night, Jan. 26, in the alumni game. The Alumni got on board first with a quick goal, but Victor Ponce answered just as quickly with a well-placed shot on a breakaway making it 1-1. The defenses would dominate the rest of the first half keeping the score locked. It was Armando Cisneros, Eric Ponce, and Jose Garcia who would shine defensively for the varsity Pirates. The second half would start with another quick goal, this time by Jose Trejo, making the score 2-1. The Alumni would answer right back, tying up the score at two all. Then with about 20 minutes left in the game, Trejo would make a goal from near the sideline, making the score 3-2.

Pirates get slammed by Sulphur Springs

By ELLIS KNOX reporter@campcountynow.com

Head coach Tyler Simmons reported that the game against the Sulphur Springs wildcats started out promising, with Victor Ponce scoring first, from about 25 yards away. However there would be some miscues defensively by the Pirates that would lead to three goals in the first half for Sulphur Springs. Although the Pirates controlled the ball, and kept it on the Wildcat side for most of the first half, they would not be able to capitalize on any shots and finish the first half down 3-1. Although the Pirates would give a great effort to try and get back in the game, it would be more of the same in the second half as the Wildcats would go on to win 5-1.
