Pirates lose to the Tatum Eagles, 21 to 49

The box score tells it all, e Tatum Eagles were in control of the game from the beginning and never let go. e Pirates struggled to say the least and the loss was a total team e ort. Broken plays and penalties broke the team’s usual rhythm. Crucial third downs were not converted and penalties at inopportune moments on defense gave Tatum an opportunity to continue to move the ball. A er last year’s 0-10 season, Tatum had a lot to prove and that team showed a determination that appeared on the scoreboard. e Pirates did not appear to be in the same mindset. District play starts in two weeks with Atlanta coming to Pittsburg. e team will put this behind them and learn from it. Coach Baca and his sta will iron out the problems and have the team ready. No team likes to lose and this team is no exception.

Henderson Lions run away with 71-28 victory over Pirates

By ELLIS KNOX reporter@campcountynow.com

I wish there was a high-light to this story but there isn’t. You win some and you lose some. is one was tough, a lot went wrong, two injuries, sidelined key players. In a pre-game interview Head Coach Brad Baca had this to say: “We play teams to test ourselves in non-conference, this is a non-conference game, it means nothing in the end, it’s not a conference game, there is no championship at stake, no trophy at the end, only the experience,” Coach Baca said. The game was fairly close most of the rst half, early in the second quarter the score was 21 to 14 Lions., then two injuries sidelined Red Shields and Eric Kimble. The team was suddenly distracted by these injuries and let the Lions slip away, as the Lions scored an additional 22 points to finish out the half, Henderson 43 to Pitt’s 14.
