Lady Pirate soccer team has been approved for 2016-2017 season

The Pittsburg School Board has approved the start of a Lady Pirate Soccer program beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. UIL recognition will not begin until the following year in 2017-2018. Stephanie Villanueva addressed the School Board during the May 16, school board meeting and requested that the school begin the Lady Pirate soccer program. Miss Villanueva represented about 30 to 35 girls who had asked her to be their spokesperson at the school board meeting. e board considered the request under the rules of title nine. e Gazette approached one school board member, Christian Yantis about the vote.
