Services for Newton Lloyd, 84, were held Wednesday, Jan. 20. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Lloyd was born Nov. 9, 1931in Chandler. He died Sunday, Jan. 17 in Longview.

Shumate

Services for David Monroe Shumate, 66, were held ursday, Jan. 14, 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church with Don Ross, Steve Packer, Craig Toney and Clay Potter o ciating. Interment was in Hickory Hill Cemetery in Titus County. Mr. Shumate was born in Titus County Sept. 27, 1949. He died Monday, Jan. 11 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; one son, Jonathan Shumate and his wife Audrey of Redwater; one daughter, Stephanie Dildine and husband Casey of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ethan Shumate, Cross Shumate, Greer Shumate, Wyatt Dildine, Kortlyn Dildine, Kassidy Dildine and Emile Dildine; one brother, Johnny Lehman and wife Chris of Highland Village; and numerous cousins and friends; nieces and nephews, Melissa Campbell, Jannette Brad eld, Johnny Shumate, Lindsey Earman, Josh Lehman.

Ellis

Services for Tom Ellis, 74, will be held at a later date in a private ceremony under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Ellis died at Pleasant Springs Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant on Jan. 9. He was born March 10, 1941 in Belton, S.C. He was a resident of Mount Pleasant. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Douglas Ellis; one son, Hal Ellis; two daughters, Ellen Hammett and Ashley Lankford; three brothers, Lee, Joe and Donnie Ellis; one sister Susan Ripley; grandchildren, Jordan Hammett, Austin Hammett, Sarah Perry, Garrett Fairbanks, Emily Ellis, Anna Ellis, Lilly Ellis and one great grandchild, Easton Hammett.

Baggett

Jean Shaddix Baggett, 63, died Jan. 5 in Frisco, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Rhoton Funeral Chapel in Carrollton with the Rev. Cal Hoffman officiating.A pre-burial gathering of loved ones and friends will be held from 2:30 to 3:50 p.m. at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church of Pittsburg with interment services led by the Rev. Steve Packer at 4 p.m. at Rosehill Cemetery. She was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Pittsburg. A 1975 graduate of Sam Houston State University, she was the first in her family to earn a college degree.

Taylor

Robert Taylor Jr. was born on December 2, 1952 in Pittsburg, Texas and passed away January 6, 2016 in Houston after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; two beautiful daughters, Haley and Emily Taylor, of College Station and Austin, Texas; mother, well known watercolor artist, Jo Taylor; sisters, Beth Morgan and brother-in-law Ron Morgan, Mary Akin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. As a young adult, Robert was an accomplished musician in his first career and when his family obligations required it he became an excellent machinist. His third and final career was as a talented Mechanical Engineer after graduating Texas A&M University. He still holds a number of patents for oil field equipment. Robert was an ardent and skilled sailor for most of his life. He and Kathy lived for years aboard their sailing yachts. As an accomplished woodworker, he created a number of beautiful upgrades for both of their boats.

Services for Stephan R. Carrington were held Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Pittsburg High School annex with the Rev. Jerral Walker officiating; interment was in Rocky Mount Cemetery. He was born Dec. 31, 1960 in Gilmer and died Jan. 4 in Rocky Mound.

Lenelle Hardy Latimer of Mount Pleasant passed away Friday, Jan. 8. She was born on April 28, 1918 to Henry Lee and Edna (Whorton) Reynolds. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10.

Knight

Nettie Marie Ferrell Knight, age 98, of Pittsburg, passed away at her home Saturday, December 26. Nettie was born July 25, 1917 in Gastonia, Texas toHarrison and Jessie Jewell Grimes Ferrell. She married Guy Buster Knight on December 24, 1938. During their marriage of almost 59 years, they would live, love and laugh and raise three children: Guy Robert, RaymondWayne, and Carolyn. Nettie was a devoted wife, mother, grand mother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, and also enjoyed gardening and working in her ower beds.
