Marshall

Services for Barbara Jeanette Marshall, 69, were held at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel Monday, Dec. 7 with Bro. Rex French and Bro. Clint Davis officiating. She died Thursday, Dec. 3 at her home in Pittsburg surrounded by her family. She was born March 9, 1946 in Paducah. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant and was a registered nurse. Survivors include one son, Trae Marshall; daughter, Jackie and son-in-law Alan McCandless; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sammy Morris of Harleton and Larry and Billie Ann Morris of Cookville; two sisters Wanda and Malvin Nix of Lone Star and Margaret Morris of Cookville. Pallbearers were Kevin Morris, Mark Morris, Stuart Peterson, Todd Newman, Chad Newman and Breck Marshall. Honorary pallbearers were Tod Gunn and Kason Newman.

McFerrin

Services for Doris Mae Carnes McFerrin, 88, were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Greer Blvd. Church of Christ with Virgil Faires officiating. Interment was in Macedonia Cemetery. She was born July 29, 1927 in Avery and she was a resident of Pleasant Springs Nursing Center in Mount Pleasant where she died Dec. 3. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Mickey Flynn McFerrin and wife Deverie of Yantis; Terry Wayne McFerrin and wife Vicki of Fairfield and Gary Paul McFerrin and wife Debbie of Pittsburg; one daughter, Wanda Nell Williams and husband Ron of Blodgett. She had 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Johnny Rex Carnes of Mount Pleasant. She was married to Lester McFerrin in Jan. 1947 and he passed away in 2009. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Add Carnes, Ray Glenn Carnes, Joe Lynn Carnes; sister, Joyce Ann Pettigrew and grandson Nicholas Arzie McFerrin.

Murdoch

Nathlyn Ione Murdoch our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother has gone to join her husband Dick with our Heavenly Father. Ione was born with her twin sister Iolanda on May 8th 1926 in Roswell, New Mexico. Ione was one of 5 sisters Wanda, Louise, Iolanda, and Betty. She and Dick were married just after WW2 and lived in Dallas until retiring to their home on Lake Bob Sandlin in 1995. Ione was a real estate broker and pilot. Dick and Ione loved to fish on Bob Sandlin and to travel especially to Branson. Thanks to the staff of Pittsburg nursing center for all your care of “Memaw” and to Heart to Heart hospice for your help.

Goble

Mark Goble, 61 of Alma, AR passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in Fayetteville. He was born September 10, 1954 in Bishop, CA to George Goble and Martha (Shelton) Goble. Mark was a talented carpenter as well as had a love for horses and his beloved Texas Rangers. He was a member of Alma First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father George Goble.

Allen

Yvonne Allen was born Nov. 5, 1936 in Benton, Arkansas and passed away Oct. 12, 2015 at East Texas Medical Center in Pittsburg. Yvonne was well known in the Pittsburg area, having worked 53 years as a hair stylist and having owned Serenity Salon for many years. She was a bit of a shopaholic, and always managed to find a good deal. Yvonne was an avid gardener and spent countless hours tending to her yard accompanied by her two beloved dogs, Iris, a Corgi and Molly, a Chihuahua. Most importantly though, she was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Genevia Coburn Allen. Survivors include her husband, Bill Warford of Pittsburg; son, Jeff Warford and wife, Lou Ann of Quitman; two grandchildren, Kayla Warford and Jonathan Warford; brother, Gerald Allen and wife, Lucy; four sisters, Teresa Allen Spinka and husband, George, Rebecca Dowdell, Lida Jendrysik and Roberta McCarthy; numerous nieces and nephews and a bushel of dear friends.

Stout

Charles William Stout, 87, was born July 28, 1928 in Omaha, Texas and passed away surrounded by his family on October 12, 2015 in Pittsburg, Texas. Services were held 10 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Burial was at Macedonia Cemetery in Pittsburg. Visitation with the family was Thursday evening at Erman Smith Funeral Home. Charles was known as a man who loved the Lord and his family. He was an active member and elder at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Our precious husband, dad, and PawPaw showed his love for others by his actions. His favorite pastime was working in his woodshop where he loved to make furniture, yard decorations, and toys for friends, family and most of all his grandkids. Through his workmanship, hundreds of lives were blessed. Charles and the love of his life, Dorothy, were married for 68 years.

Services were held for James Norris Isaac, 70, on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. with burial in the West Chapel Cemetery in Leesburg. He was born in Leesburg Feb. 14, 1945.

Irby

Lollis Carson Irby, best-known as Shorty, passed away on October 28, 2015 in Pittsburg at the age of 92. He was born May 23, 1923 in Hopkins County to John Carl Irby and Bessie Parnell Irby. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years, but was presently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dorothy Jordan Irby, whom he married on Aug. 2, 1941. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews. During WWII. Shorty served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corp at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California. Before his retirement in 1989, Shorty worked as a carpenter, managed a lumber yard, worked as the purchasing agent for Holman Manufacturing Company and served as the County Clerk for Camp County for 12 years. After retirement, he always had a garden and worked in his wood shop.

Betty Avent

 

Betty Avent was born July 1, 1940 in Camp County, Texas and passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 in Upshur Manor in Gilmer, Texas.

Mrs. Avent was a Baptist and is preceded in death by her parents, John William and Altie Loreine Stucker Douglas and sister, Mary Elizabeth Douglas.

She is survived by her husband, Harvey Avent; sisters, Melba and Travis Terrell of Daingerfield, Texas and Becky Youngblood of Pittsburg, Texas; five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.

Family and friends served as pallbearers. The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday before services. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg with Rev. Earl Akin officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas.

Tammy Michelle Hinton Ross

 

Tammy Michelle Hinton Ross, formerly of Pittsburg, Texas, was born Oct. 11, 1960 in Mount Pleasant, Texas and passed away Oct. 10, 2015 in Tyler, Texas.

The family will receive guests from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Services will be held at Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15 with Bro. Bruce Blackstone officiating. Interment will be in White Oak Springs. Donations may be made to the funeral home or the Diabetes Association.
