Better than a made for TV movie

I had a friend tell me “now that the actual race will start soon, there will be some kind of decorum reached between the candidates” and I`m thinking the nastiness will reach epic proportions. On one hand you have Donald Trump, who will do or say almost anything to win and you have Hillary Clinton, a woman that believes she has no equals, including the military, Secret Service or White House stewards. Trump was a terrible husband, a known womanizer, but extremely proud of his children. Have you ever seen Hillary holding her grandchild? Does anyone believe either one of them has ever diapered an infant? Trump was too busy and well, in Hillary`s case “It takes a village” cause she not doing crap. In the coming months the attacks against each other will surely be vicious and calculated. eir thoughts will be your thoughts, a er your thoughts are cleaned up and if you are in the targeted majority.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editior,

Saturday, May 14 marks the 24th anniversary of one of America’s great days of giving – the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers walk though the community every day, o en coming face to face with a sad reality for too many, hunger. So, each year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect none=-perishable food donations from our customers. e donations go directly to local food pantries to provide food to people in Pittsburg/Camp County who need our help. Last year, we collected over 71 million pounds of food nationally, feeding an estimated 30 million people. Over the course of its 23- year history, the drive has collected well over one billion pounds of food, thanks to a postal service universal delivery network that spans the entire nation, including Puerto Rico, Guam and U. S. Virgin Islands.

The Tet offensive 1968

March 29 was Vietnam Veterans Day. I have numerous friends who are veterans of my generation’s war. When the lottery system started I was number 360 out of 366. So my chances of being dra ed were nil. I did not consider myself lucky as I had thought about a military career very seriously to follow in the footsteps of many in my family. However, I was not able to serve in the military as a car wreck with a drunk driver eliminated any chance of that. I was a senior in High School in 1968. I had watched the TV news with great interest and when the o ensive started, everyone was greatly surprised as many thought the communist were on the verge of defeat. e Vietcong and the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) were actually defeated in the Tet o ensive of 1968 but our le leaning news media declared it a Vietcong victory.

Are your panties in a wad?

If your panties are already in a wad over the purposed school bond, then this article is not going to make you feel vindicated. Yes, I`m very much in favor of the school bond. I have looked at the packet, the items listed are truly needed and the costs are what they are. It seems to me almost all the students and teachers will bene t from these improvements and that is reason enough to vote for the bond. Public schools are a lot more than reading, writing and arithmetic. e social side of school is always underappreciated. Being prepared for life, is sometimes more important than algebra. Home schooling leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Little interaction with people unlike you will cause problems or issues later in life. If you believe in the European style of schooling where the students are going longer each day and much longer semesters and all outside interests (sports, music, and any type of club) are completely separate of school, then you are wrong there to.

Letter to the Editor

Dear Mr. Knox,

Several weeks back I enjoyed swapping stories with Ellis Knox about our exploits back when we were both in government service. It was of great interest to me when Knox showed me the ier on Columbine II’s upcoming visit to Mt. Pleasant. I also enjoyed the article he wrote for our local paper concerning this aircraft. I was fortunate enough to have seen and toured this wonderful piece of history years ago. It and other retired Presidential aircra were on display at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. I was on my way to Mount Pleasant to do some shopping when I saw that distinctive tail of the constellation o to the right. ere is no mistaking the tail of a “Connie.” The Public viewing was going on, so I stopped to see this important piece of our history. The next day they were fueling the plane when I arrived.
