Don’t poke the Bear

Sometimes I get the feeling that Hillary Clinton`s camp tells/allows Bernie Sanders campaign to see just how far they can go and what they can even bring up. Let`s face it Democrats, Clinton is bumper deep in the mud, with all the illegal allegations. It`s so bad the FBI is fitting her for a prison uniform. Of course, the way she dresses now, a prison uniform would be an up-grade. Sanders is way behind, so why doesn`t he mix it up with Clinton? The popular vote totals aren`t that much different between either Clinton or Sanders, but the number of delegates are. It is obvious The Republican Establishment is trying to bend (with little effect) the nomination process in the way they want it. It appears to me the Democratic Establishment is doing the same thing. Sanders can poke Clinton, just not too hard. The Bear will bite back.

The Alamo - continued

Early in the nineteenth century the Mission San Antonio de Valero, became known as the Alamo because of a large stand of cottonwood trees near the complex. The Mexican Army occupied the mission until Dec. 1835. When General Martín Perfecto de Cos surrendered to Texian forces. Most Texians believed the war was over since as far as they knew, all the Mexican troops had left Texas with Gen. Cos. It was a mistake, when Gen. Cos got to the border he was met by another Mexican army division heading north. This division was under the command of the Dictator and President of Mexico and Commanding General of all Mexican forces, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.

One last thought

By SHAWN KENNINGTON Contributor to The Gazette

That thought is the situations that begin with WHY? Why do we worry about so many things? Why do we dwell on such a minor problem or issue? Why do we waste our time, our precious time? Why do we choose to tear someone down rather than build them up? Why do we spend so much time being negative when we could be positive? Why do we not look for the good in people and in our lives?

The Alamo

The only shape that is more iconic than the shape of the Alamo is Texas itself. However, the Alamo was not that shape originally. The iconic bell shape was done while the U.S. Army occupied the site in the years after Texas joined the United States in 1846. The church was built in 1744, it was originally planned to have two towers and a second floor but there was a flaw in the design or just poor construction as the towers and second floor collapsed in upon itself in 1756. It was never used for religious services after that and only partially repaired. By 1836, it was used only for storage. The roof was gone and the apse area contained a three cannon emplacement that was built by the Mexican Army and later used by the Texians during the siege and battle in 1836. Originally known as the Mission San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo, began as a Catholic mission and compound in 1718. The Alamo was the first of five missions to be built in the San Antonio area.

Classic movie: Network seems to apply today

The quote from a 1976 classic movie Network: “I`m mad as hell and I`m not going to take this anymore” seems to apply today in the Republican political candidates’ entanglement. The scene in the movie where urbanists (citified) people are shown, yanking open their high rise apartment windows screaming out this phrase appears to be the way Donald Trump voters would like to react. Trump has energized new groups: the first time voters, the seldom voting Democratic, Republican, and Independents and the people that want to vote for something positive. I understand their wants, but I’m not sure Trump can come close to delivering his promises. Sounds to me like it’s ‘shades of yesterday’ with President Obama`s voters during his rst campaign. Of course, Obama had the backing of his party and the sad truth of it is, the Republican Establishment better come around. Trump is not only winning; he is crushing his opponents. Every time he wins, his support swells.

No, they didn’t say that, did they?

Pope Francis has been visitingMexico prayingwith and for sick children. Everything was going great until he decided to weigh in on immigration and the fact he believes Donald Trump is not a Christian. Mind you, Francis has met with Raul Castro, a man who has had priests executed and Christian schools closed, but didn`t have an unkind word for him. I`m pretty sure Trump called the pope a bum. Now I can see Trump buying a Christian school, tearing it down and building a hotel that you and I could not a ord to enter, but that is business. Pope Francis now believes being head of the Catholic Church he can speak directly to God, while all of us southern Christians know only Billy Graham can do that. Jerry Zeifman, is the man that supervised Hillary Rodham and red her from her job with the Democratic Party for lying and being unethical during the “Watergate Investigation” (information supplied by North Star Writer’s Group 2008).
