‘TisThe Seasons’ show coming to Whatley Center

TheWhatley Center for the Performing Arts will feature The Hit Men, former stars of Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons, for their Tis The Seasons holiday show. The event is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. The Hit Men are a real rock and roll legacy performers, not the actors from the Broadway shows, but the former stars of Frankie Valli &The Four Seasons, who toured the world with Frankie back in the day and are now on their wildly successful Reunion Tour across the U.S.

Dec. 14 Beekeepers Meeting The Caddo Trace Beekeepers Association will meet Monday Dec. 14 at the Agri-Life Building, 1708 Industrial Rd, Mount Pleasant. A question and answer session starts at 6:30 p.m. and meeting at 7:00 p.m. Our meeting will include a Pot Luck meal, a gift exchange (both optional) and a Honey Bee Quiz Bowl game. Local teen participates in Miss Teen of America Pageant

Summer Pylant, daughter of Autum Pylant, and granddaughter of Carla and Robert Peoples of Pittsburg, participated in the Miss Teen of Texas Scholarship and Recognition Pageant Nov. 27-29 in Dallas. The 17 year old senior from Pittsburg High School was named a Merit Scholar as she made it to the top 6. Then, she was named to the Honor Court (top 3), and walked away with first runner up honors for the state of Texas. Summer was sponsored by The Historic Holman House, MC Apparels & Boutique, Peralta’s Mexican Restaurant, Kim’s Salon, The Delightful Heart, The Mayben Group, Pittsburg- Camp County Chamber of Commerce, William Bunn, Carol Wootten, Wild About Tees, Rai Machin, and Rafe Green.

Our Growing CASA Community

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Titus, Camp and Morris Counties endeavors to provide trained volunteer advocates in all abuse/neglect foster care cases assigned by the courts. CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need.

NTCC Firefighter Academy accepting applications

The course of study will include Firefighter I, Firefighter II, HazMat Awareness and HazMat Operations. The cost for the program is $1,664 plus books and personal protective equipment. Some financial aid may be available and volunteer firefighters may be eligible for tuition and fee assistance from the Texas A&M Forest Service (HB 2604 funds). “This is a great opportunity for those interested in working as a professional firefighter and also for volunteers who want to take their training to the next level,” Lisa York, NTCC Director of Continuing Education, said.

CASA receives stuffed animals for Christmas
