20th Century Club has annual fall luncheon

Jo Lange adorned her home with pumpkins and fall decor and hosted e Twentieth Century Study Club’s annual fall salad and dessert luncheon. Debbie Patterson o ered prayer and Donna Pilgrim lead the business meeting. Judy Capps, president, and Liz Robbins, executive director, of Hope Ministries of Northeast Texas explained the creation of and vision for their organization that gives a hand-up to women and children in need. Kathy Carpenter and Donna Pilgrim helped serve the tasty dishes prepared by several club members.

ETMC Air 1 celebrates 30 years

ETMC’s Air 1 program is celebrating a milestone with 30 years of service to East Texas. e rst ight was December 1985 with a transport of a burn patient to Dallas. ETMC Air 1 has served East Texans by providing emergency helicopter transport for victims of car accidents and cardiac and stroke patients, as well as assisting in helping nd a lost child in the piney woods. “Air 1 is especially bene cial to our rural areas and when critically ill patients need to get to the hospital right away,” said program director Kelly Cox. e ETMC Regional Trauma System has an established eet of three ETMC Air 1 emergency helicopters stationed throughout the region including Tyler, Athens and Mount Pleasant. is allows ETMC to provide high-quality care and rapid transport to residents within 60,000 square miles of the surrounding areas.

The Pittsburg Duplicate Bridge Club met at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 525 Elm St. Winners from the the match were North/South: , Ed Loutherback and Linda Edmondson with 63.75 percent, Janie and Jerrell Wolaver with 63.33 percent, Charles and Heather Sanders with 51.67, and Denny and Rita Forest with 44.58 percent. East/West winners were: Linda Harrison and Sandy Lansing with 62.08 percent, Jean Huskey and Jean Friedell with 51.67 percent, and Larry Brough and Jackie McElhaney with 49.17 percent. FFA competes in leadership events

Last week the Pittsburg Future Farmers of America (FFA) traveled to Northeast Texas Community College to compete in the Paris District Leadership Development Event contest. Students competed in Junior FFA Quiz, Junior FFA Creed, job interview, senior FFA creed, senior FFA quiz, and senior farm skills. Northeast Texas Community College opens enrollment for intersession

Registration for the spring 2016 semester is currently underway at Northeast Texas Community College. Students may also register for the holiday intersession term. Intersession courses run December 21 through January 11. ese intensive online classes allow dedicated students to earn full college credit in just three weeks. Learn more about these classes at ntcc.edu/intersession. e regular spring 2016 semester begins Tuesday, Jan. 19. Currently enrolled students may sign up for classes online via the MyEagle portal at myeagle.ntcc.edu. New students and returning students who have not been enrolled since January 2015 should ll out an application for admission and complete a nancial aid application as soon as possible.
