Vistra Energy president and chief executive officer Curt Morgan said, “For more than 40 years, Monticello employees have generated reliable power for Texans, and we honor and recognize their service. But the market’s unprecedented low power price environment has profoundly impacted its operating revenues and no longer supports continued investment.”

Carroll Shelby Foundation gives $25,000 for NTCC automotive scholarships

Shelby began supporting the NTCC automotive program in 2010. Since his death, the Carroll Shelby Foundation has carried on his legacy through annual contributions. To date, the foundation has provided more than $700,000 in scholarships for NTCC students. The car, pictured above, is a 1968 Shelby GT350H that Shelby himself purchased for the program not long before he passed away. The college restored the vehicle and students enrolled in the Shelby Auto Tech program work to maintain it.

“We are so grateful for the support of the Shelby Foundation. Not only to do they provide financial support for students, but they also open doors to unique opportunities for our students and faculty,” McCullough said.
