The Celtic Tenors to perform holiday show at the Whatley Center

Police Briefs

On Nov. 6, 2017, Pittsburg Police Officers received a report of possible child endangerment. After further investigation, officers arrested Dustin Kyle Lueckemeyer and Tabitha Tia Massie, both 25, on felony warrants charging them with abandoning/endangering a child.

On Nov. 7, 2017, Pittsburg Police Officers received the report of a terroristic threat in which a suspect made threats displaying a pistol. At 11 a.m., officers located the suspect, identified him as Gabriel Paul Estambuli, 28, in the 200 block of Lafayette St. Estambuli was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 1), POCS (PG2) and prohibited weapon in a weapon free zone.

Four arrested in connection with Martinez’s death

Cristian Omar Herrera Garcia, 25, Leticia Nohely Ramirez, 21, Luis Osvaldo Ramirez, 23, and Mario Perez Tovar, 22, all of Pittsburg, have been arrested and charged with murder in the death of Saul Martinez. According to Camp County Sheriff Alan McCandless, all four turned themselves in after warrants were issued.

Martinez was pronounced dead at ETMC Pittsburg at 7:20 a.m. Sept. 24.

House fire

Pittsburg firemen were challenged Monday afternoon when a modular double-wide trailer house caught fire at 1441 County Road 2512, about nine miles out of Pittsburg. According to Assistant Fire Chief David Abernathy, the home sat way off the road and there was a dirt lane leading to the house. When the first truck arrived fire was coming out of the middle, back of the house and there was a metal roof which allowed the fire to spread quickly. The owner, Yolanda Rioc, had built a fire in the fireplace and the mortar couldn’t hold it. She was in the process of remodeling the house.

Pittsburg High salutes Veterans

The Pittsburg High School student leaders and student body paid tribute to Camp County’s veterans with a special program salute Friday, Nov. 10. Representatives of the PHS athletics, Interact Club, DECA, National Honor Society, Cheerleaders, Dance Club, Future Farmers of America, Robotics Team, Skills USA, and UIL Academics presented the program.

The Colors were posted and retrieved by student members of Scout Troop 210. There were several special presentation of slides and videos put together by the students. There were three guest speakers, Active Army soldier Billy Hashaway III, a PHS graduate of 2011, Camp County Judge A. J. Mason, a Marine veteran of the Gulf War, and Army Reservist Yesenia Chavez, who graduated from PHS in the top ten percent of the class in 2015.

Driver wrecks after high speed chase

Driving at speeds of 90 miles an hour from Mount Pleasant to Pittsburg on Highway 271, landed the driver and passenger of a 2000 brown Chevrolet pickup in handcuffs with guns drawn by officers on Halloween around 5 p.m.

Timmy O’Neal Doddy, 28, struck a 2014 Mercedes in the 300 block of Greer Blvd. The pickup then struck a curb and rolled. Guns were drawn by police officers at the scene on the driver and passenger of the pickup, Crystal Hastings, 37. Both were handcuffed, questioned, detained and transported back to Mount Pleasant. No charges were filed on Hastings; however, Doddy was charged with evading arrest and detention of a vehicle. Bond was set at $40,000, and on an outstanding warrant for theft, for which his bond was set at $1,000.

Camp County District Attorney Chuck Bailey released the October Grand Jury Indictments. They are as follows: Justin Garrett Osborne, possession of a controlled substance; Warren Kent French, possession of a controlled substance and forgery; Jeremy Ryan Moore, possession of a controlled substance; Donald Wayne Reddin, Jr., possession of a controlled substance; Jessie Lee Davis, Jr., credit card abuse; Deonte Lamont Duffey, sexual assault of a child; Marques Levar Bruins, felon in possession of a firearm; Corey Wilbert , felon in possession of a firearm.

Police Briefs

At 5:15pm on Oct. 30, the Pittsburg Police Department initiated a traffic stop in the 400 block of S. Greer Blvd. The driver, identified as Cory Blake Owens, 29, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (28 less than or equal to 200 grams) in addition to misdemeanor charges.
