Wohlford gets 99 years for murder

By DEBBIE KNOX AND SUSAN TAFT

Riveting testimony was heard in the murder trial of Samantha Nicole Wohlford, 27, who was fourth person to be convicted in the murder and aggravated kidnapping of Ernest Lee Ibarra, Jr. It took a Camp County jury less than an hour to return a verdict of guilty. It took about the same time for the jury to give Wolford 99 years.

A Titus County jury had already found Wolford guilty of aggravated kidnapping of her husband. In light of the evidence and facts of the offense, 276th District Judge Robert Rolston ordered that the 99-year sentence imposed by the Camp County Jury to be served consecutively in addition to the 50-year sentence previously imposed on Wohlford in her Titus County trial.

9/11 Stories impact students at Intermediate

Pittsburg Intermediate School students heard extraordinary stories by two men whose lives were changed after 9-11-2001. Those two men were Sergeant First Class Sean Becker and Daniel Lockler. Mr. Lockler teaches at the intermediate school now but then was in the Army. Sgt. Becker is an Army recruiter today.

Children seem captivated hearing the men tell of how Sgt. Becker felt an “unwavering, undying devotion to the United States” during that time and joined the Army because of 911. He was 27 at the time.

Mr. Lockler told students how he had worked the night before on Sept. 10 and he and his wife were watching the events on television.
