Former Pittsburg resident Frank Parker and Laurie Fernandez were winners of the Guam Chamber of Commerce Golf Ball Drop Contest. The contest took place on March 14 at the 16th Annual Amateur Golf Tournament at Starts Guam Golf Resort in Dededo. Ms. Fernandez and Mr. Parker share in the total cash amount of $10,000.
The chamber’s golf event and Ball Drop Contest are fund-raising events of the chamber that support its many community programs including the Dave J Santos Scholarship Program and the Armed Forces Committee.

Causin’ Chaos, 14U girls softball team, finishes first place in the USFA sanctioned “Broach Park Warm-up” tournament in Pittsburg.  Causin’ Chaos went undefeated in the tournament. Carson T. Bradshaw of Pittsburg won first place in the senior novice trap and second place in senior novice skeet at the 2013 Henderson County 4-H Whiz Bang on March 16 at Rose City Flying Clays in Tyler. His parents are Richard and Connie Bradshaw.

The Lady Eagles of Northeast Texas Community College won four of five games on Feb. 8-10 as they were in action in the Cowtown Tournament in Fort Worth. NTCC improved to 5-4 this season as the Eagles picked up wins over Rose State, Eastern Oklahoma, Connors State and Western Oklahoma.
“Things finally started clicking for our offense, and we were able to put the ball in play,” said Eagle head coach Jessica Keith. “Some of the games got a little too close for comfort at the end, but we played well overall.”
A 6-run third inning was the difference for the Eagles in the opening game of the tournament Feb. 8 as NTCC picked up a 9-7 win over Rose State. The Eagles trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of third before the offensive explosion.
The Eagles sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning as Jessica Garza, Kix Hutchins and Alizabeth Autrey each had doubles in the inning to help give NTCC the lead.
