Pirate cross country teams dominate meet

By Jeremy Weber

Pittsburg’s cross country teams battled the oppressive heat Thursday afternoon as they hosted an impromptu meet at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park. After unfortunate events caused the cancellation of the team’s scheduled meet in Redwater, the Pirates and Lady Pirates decided to host the meet at Bob Sandlin, where both teams dominated the field to earn first-place team finishes.
“We wanted to have a good start to the season and that is exactly what we were able to achieve at this meet,” head coach John Chatham said. “We know that we will have to be running in this kind of heat come district, so we thought this would be a great way to prepare.”
