Lady Pirates looking to make playoffs in 2013

By Jeremy Weber

The Pittsburg Lady Pirates will be looking for a good season in 2013 as head coach Whitney Dickson says the team’s goal is to make the Class 3A playoffs.
“We are really looking to make the playoffs this season and I really don’t see why we can’t do that,” she said. “This team has a lot of talent and with four teams making the playoffs from each district this season, there is no reason for us to miss the postseason.”

Tailgate party a success

By Jeremy Weber

I’ve covered a lot of high schools over the years and I’ve been to my share of kickoff events. I can honestly say I have never seen the community come out in the kind of numbers that we saw at the Pirate Tailgate Party last week. It felt like the whole town showed up – and I even saw some Mount Pleasant folks in the crowd (I won’t use names to protect the innocent).
It was great to meet the coaching staff, football players, cheerleaders, mascots, majorettes, and band.
