Pirates and Lady Pirates play six games of basketball

Tuesday, Jan. 19, the Pirates freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams, both boys’ and girls’ teams played their 4A, Region II, District 15 rivals, the Liberty-Eylau Leopards. e games had varied results. The games were played in the junior high gym and in the high school gym. e boys’ JV and both freshman teams played at the junior high and the girls’ JV and the two varsity teams played at the high school. e next home game is Jan. 29 and all six teams will play the North Lamar Panthers. The varsity will play in the high school gym and the freshman in the junior high gym and the boys JV will play in the High School gym and the girls JV will play at the junior high. The freshman Lady Pirates were crushed by the Leopard Lady Freshman. Pittsburg trailed the whole game as the Leopards dominated the court. e freshman Lady Pirates scored only nine points to the freshman Lady Leopards 52. And that was the final score: freshman Lady Pirates – 9, freshman Lady Leopards – 52. The Pirate freshman team fared much better by winning their game. The Pirate freshman led at the half and led all the second half to the nish, Pirate freshman 38 – Leopard freshman 20. e Pirate Boys’ junior varsity lost their game to the Liberty-Eylau JV team 59 – 32.
