Candise Wise

A memorial service for Candise Wise, 50, of Longview were held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 8 at Blodget Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant.
Mrs. Wise passed away on Feb. 26 in Longview.
Candise Marie Vincent Wise Conger was born September 21, 1963 in Dallas. She was a resident of Longview, formerly living in Pittsburg.
Mrs. Wise is survived by her husband, James Wise of Longview; five children, Brandy Kinard and husband, Jeremy, Tiffany Patterson, Chasity Patterson, Penny Prince and husband, Mark and Brandon Conger; step-daughter, Ashley Sweaney and husband, Leonard; brother, Michael Vincent; two sisters, Melody Brown and Bonnie Upchurch; and fourteen grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Brown and parents, Russell Orlen Vincent and Mary Etta Wagner Vincent.

Yates

Services for Thomas Lee “Bud” Yates Jr., 60, were held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg. Bro. Tommy Oglesby officiated the service and interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Yates was born on Oct. 07, 1953 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Thomas Lee Yates Sr. and June Yates. He was a Baptist, retired from Dupont and a member of the Masonic Lodge in LaPorte.

Willie Frances Landers, 87, of New Boston passed away Monday, February 17, in a local nursing facility.  Mrs. Landers was born April 14, 1927 in Marion County, Texas.   Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday Feb. 20. Interment was in Ringwood Cemetery in New Boston.

Services for Elsie Fave Durbin, 79, were held on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Durbin died on Feb. 23 in Pittsburg. She was born on Feb. 18, 1935 in Franklin County. Interment was held at Maple Springs Cemetery.

Blankenship

Graveside services for Johnny Ross J.C. Blankenship Jr., 34, were held Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery, under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home, Tom Ray officiated the service. Mr. Blankenship died Jan. 22 in a car crash in Pittsburg.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1979 to his parents Johnny and Vivian Blankenship.
Mr. Blankenship is survived by both of his parents; wife of 13 years Amber Smith; sons, Joseph Ross Pickle, Jason Ross Blankenship and Jace Ross Blankenship; daughter, June Rain Blankenship; stepson, Bradley Allen Smith; sister, Diana Gracia; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Acker

Services for Opal Acker, 101, will be held Saturday, March 1 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Bro. Steve Packer will officiate in the service and interment will be held at Macedonia Cemetery. Mrs. Acker died on Feb. 14 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
Mrs. Acker was born on May 18, 1912 in Pittsburg to Louie Wesley McGahee and Annie Williams. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, a member of the retired teachers association, volunteered at the Camp County Museum and was a retired teacher.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and Dale Langford and Martha and Waldemar Lorenz; grandchildren, Mike and Christine Langford, Cathy and Ruben Martinez, Lisa Langford, Nina Lorenz, and Lara and Trevor Trinkaus; and 10 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Acker was preceeded in death by her parents and husband, O.E. Acker.

Obituaries

Nancy Robertson Bell, born in Nacogdoches in Nov. 22 1932, her services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23 at St. William Laud Episcopal Church in Pittsburg. Mrs. Bell died Feb. 18.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. William Laud Episcopal Church. She was a fifth-generation Texan and was descended from pioneering families on both her mother and father’s side. When she was a small child her parents, a lawyer and an educator, settled in Pittsburg, and it was there that she developed lifelong friendships. She always had a youthful spirit, a joy for life, and a beautiful smile. She was known for her creativity and talent as an artist.

After following her Air Force husband, L.E. “Rocky” Bell, around the country while raising a family of five children, they settled back in Pittsburg after her husband finished Baylor Law School in Waco.

Walker
Earnie Lee “Shack” Walker of Missouri City, Texas died on Feb. 10 at Methodist Sugarland Hospital. 
He was born in Pittsburg, on July 31, 1947 to Mr. Earnel Walker and Teresa Durley Walker.
He retired after 44 years as a geophysicist from Shell Oil & Development.
Mr. Walker was married to his wife, Bonnie Porter for 45 years. 
He is survived by his wife, 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Joseph “Joe” Rogers 81, passed away Feb. 14, 2014 at his home in Pittsburg.  Mr. Rogers was born Nov. 30, 1932 in Humphry, Ark. to Clarence and Hester Rogers.  He served in the United States Navy before returning to Pine Bluff, Ark. where he met and married the love of his life Katie Logue Rogers in 1957.  Joe then began his career with Arkla Gas, which brought his family to Pittsburg during his 27 year tenure with the company before his retirement.  
After his retirement his hobbies became more important than his daily jobs.  In retirement he and his wife Katie, of 54 years enjoyed many things including RVing, fishing, traveling, tinkering, and  spending time farming and gardening at his home.

Services for Charlotte Davis LaMonte, 83, were held Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Bro. Kyle Smith officiated the service. Mrs. LaMonte died on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
Mrs. LaMonte was born on Jan. 1, 1931 in University City, MS to Ben Davis and Genieve Calvert Davis.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Rick and Julie LaMonte of Garland, and Gary and Brenda LaMonte of Rowlett; daughters and son-in-laws, Cheri and Tom Yargus of Michigan, Karyn and Charles of Pittsburg, Loryn and Bob LaMonte Ernst of Garland; grandchildren, James Ruffrage, Jennifer Yargus Cope, Tim LaMonte, Ben LaMonte, Danielle LaMonte, Garrett LaMonte, Brie Bolin, Kelli Berry, Kristyn Wilson and Scott Ernst; and 21 great grandchildren.
