Obituaries

Barnwell
Raymond Barnwell, 70, of Beaumont, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.  He was born on Dec. 14, 1943, in Pittsburg, to Patsy Chrystelle James Barnwell and John Barnwell, and had been a longtime resident of the area.  Mr. Barnwell was a retired school counselor.  
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Glenda Ray Barnwell; children; Amber Barnwell of Houston and Jason Barnwell of Beaumont; brothers, Hood Barnwell and his wife, Glenda, of Mauriceville and Robert Barnwell and his wife, Sandra, of Pittsburg; sister-in-law, Kay Pruett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Mr. Barnwell’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Erman Smith Funeral Home, 315 Rusk St., Pittsburg.   Cremation arrangements are being handled under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Graveside services for Mary Joyce Bonnette, 66, of Pittsburg were held Thursday, Jan. 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Macedonia Cemetery in Camp County. Bro. Jerry Hill officiated the service. Mrs. Bonnette died Jan. 28 at Mount Pleasant Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 17, 1947 in Gilmer.

Services for James Artis Newsome of Dallas were held Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11:00 a.m. 
Interment was held at West Chapel Cemetery in Leesburg.
Mr. Newsome was born on June 6, 1933 in Leesburg and died on Jan. 15 at Odyssey Hospice in Dallas.

Patricia Wright Oldham

Services for Patricia Wright Oldham, 76, of Pittsburg, were held Saturday Jan. 18 at 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg with Michael Bedevian officiating the service. Mrs. Oldham died Friday Jan. 17 at East Texas Medical Center in Pittsburg.
Mrs. Oldham was born on Sept. 21, 1937 in Vernon to Brewer Monroe and Frances Louise Beazley Wright. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg and was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other family.

Services for Vera Mae Spencer was held Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was held at West Chapel Cemetery of Leesburg. Mrs. Spencer was born July 26, 1920 in Pickton and died Jan. 4 at Gilmer Care Center.

James David Pack

Services for James David Pack, 59, of Gilmer were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2 p.m. at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Pastors Everett Foster and Mike Bridges officiated the service and interment was held at Macedonia Cemetery. Mr. Pack died Wednesday, Jan. 1 in Gilmer.

He was born Jan. 10, 1954, in Pittsburg to Clarence and Flora Pack. Mr. Pack was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Pittsburg and worked at Pilgrims Pride.

Mr. Pack was survived by his wife Kathy Pack of Gilmer; mother, Flora Pack of Pittsburg; sons and daughter-in-laws, Andrew and Christina Pack of Pittsburg, Josh and April Pack of Mount Vernon and Rodney Pack of Gilmer; brother, Jerry Pack of Pine View; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and David Judge of Pine View; grandchildren, Alec, Kami, Jonathan, D’Anna, Tyson, Noah, Ryker, and Avery.

Mr. Pack was preceded in death by his father and brothers, Charles and Gerald Pack.

Lillie Davis Heartfield

Services for Lillie Davis Heartfield, 97, of Mount Pleasant were held Monday, Jan. 6, 10 a.m. at Erman Smith Funeral Home. Brother Walter Allen officiated the service and interment was held at Piney Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Heartfield died Thursday, Jan. 2 in Mount Pleasant.

She was born Feb. 14 1916, in Hunt County to Tilman Pryor and Estella Hamsley Land. Mrs. Heartfield was a long time member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Heartfield was survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Tilman and Tana Davis of Pittsburg and Ronnie and Shirley Davis of Pittsburg; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bill Crouch of Pittsburg; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren;  and sisters Dorothy Simmons of Sam Rayburn, Stella Martin of Dallas and Jean Belew of Lamesa.

Mrs. Heartfield was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, C.O. Davis and W.L. Heartfield, one daughter, Joyce Davis Springs and grandson Cole Springs.

Rae Rankin Grimes

A graveside service for Rae Rankin Grimes, 81, was held Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Michael Bedevian officiating.

Mrs. Grimes was born Dec. 6, 1932 in Ashland, OH to Harold and Dorothy Marie Shank Poorman. She died Friday Jan. 3 in Fort Worth. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past President of the P.T.A. in Fort Worth, Mrs. Fort Worth in 1964, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her sons Dale Grimes of Houston and John Grimes of Garland; daughters Barbara Bower of Stephenville and Marilyn Allen of Hurst; brother Bob Rankin of Ashland, OH; grandchildren, Monica Grimes, Stephanie Stetson, Rachael Grimes, Brandon Bower, Clinton Bower, Ross Bower, Dan Allen, Brian Allen, Leslie Allen, Trey Grimes and Kelly Van Meter; great grandchildren Katie Grimes, Casen Bower, Aubrey Landry, Gentry Bower, Alexis Allen, Brady Allen and Maren and Matthew Van Meter.
