Two-car collision causes major injuries

Pittsburg Police Department officers responded to a call of a major motor vehicle crash Friday, March 30 at approximately 12:03 p.m. The two car accident occurred in the 200 block of North Greer Blvd, State Highway 271 near Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic. According PPD and City of Pittsburg officials, an investigation determined that a 2011 Cadillac driven by Elizabeth Perez of Mount Pleasant was travelling north on the roadway, crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a 2015 Corvette driven by Donald Wayne Henderson of Bivins.

Pastors explain Good Friday, Easter

Many see Easter as a day for hunting colorful eggs on lush green lawns, baskets filled with jelly beans and chocolate bunnies, frilly dresses, and shiny new shoes. But, for Christians, the day also known as Resurrection, Sunday is the most important holiday in the Christian faith. “Easter begins with God’s love for us,” said Kyle Smith, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg. “Sin keeps us away from him, but he loves us so much that he came to us in the person of Jesus Christ and took sin upon himself on the cross and died.”

Structure fire on CR 2114 a total loss

Structure fire on CR 2114 a total loss

There was a structure fire on County Road 2114, Thursday, March 22, in the afternoon around 1:00Pm. The house belonged to Mr. Homer Jones. The building was empty at the time of the fire. No cause has yet been determined and the fire is still under investigation

DA releases Camp County indictments

The Camp County Grand Jury met on Thursday, Feb. 8, and according to District Attorney Chuck Bailey, the following indictments were handed down: Preslie Danielle Bednarski, possession of a controlled substance; Dekota Korea Porter, assault family violence – choking; Colton Bret Searcy, aggravated robbery; Jamiriquan Raymier Enalls, aggravated robbery;

Rosa Green, aggravated robbery; Jose Luis Gardea, possession of a controlled substance; Jennifer Nicole Hunter, felony driving while intoxicated; Jose Luis Gardea, assault family violence – choking; Randal David Lain, Sr., assault family violence-choking; and Jamiriquan Raymier Enalls, burglary of a habitation.

Camp County welcomes Ag Extension agent

With a few years’ experience as an extension agent already on her resume, Kaycee Davis is jumping into the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service post in Camp County ready for the challenge. The Mesquite native recently left a similar position in Nashville, Ark. in Howard County, where she’d worked for two years.

“There’s more going on in Pittsburg, but the two towns are similar in the areas of livestock production, cattle production, and poultry production,” she said.

Local vet kicks off Rabies Vaccination Clinic

Greer Blvd. from 8 a.m. to noon, (closed for lunch), 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, 8 to noon.

The cost per will be $7 per dog or cat; $2 off all other vaccinations. This clinic is sponsored by the Camp County 4-H Club and Pittsburg Veterinary Clinic.

How Camp County voted in March primary

Republican Hudnall gets 22 votes over McFerrin in election

There are a total of 7,487 registered voters in Camp County and among those registers voters 1,519 ballots were cast Tuesday, March 6. There were 1,165 Republicans who voted and 354 from the Democrat Party. Voter turnout was 20.29 percent.

The results were as follows:

Republican ballot:

United States Senator: Ted Cruz, 961; Mary Miller, 82; Geraldine Sam, 11; Bruce Jacobson Jr., 24 and Stefano de Stefano, 11; total 1,089. United States Representative, District 4: John Ratcliffe, 967 and John Cooper, 98; total 1,065. Governor: Greg Abbott, 979; Bob Krueger, 83, and SECEDE Kilgore, 6; total, 1068. Lt. Governor: Dan Patrick, 594; Scott Milder, 540; total 1134. Attorney General: Ken Paxton, 883; total 883.

Spring Break

Let me see what I want? These two young guys, out for a bike ride on the first day of Spring break, lucked out on finding the ice cream man on the new sidewalk in front of Fair Park on North Texas Street. Pittsburg Independent School District children will have until Friday this week to enjoy being out of school.
