Burglars strike three homes in Camp County

Three homes were burglarized on June 21, and a four-wheeler was reported stolen three days later. Officers are asking for information that will help them locate those responsible.

Theft of lawn equipment rises in Pittsburg

Massey retired from college board

The resignation of long-time board member Jerry Massey was accepted at the June 25 meeting of the board of trustees of Northeast Texas Community College. Dr. Dan McCauley recognized Mr. Massey’s 18 years of service.

Methodist church raises funds for mosquito nets in Africa

On June 19, youth from Pittsburg met at First United Methodist Church downtown to help fight malaria by entering the 10th Annual “30 Second Hoop Shoot” in hopes of raising money for the Nothing But Nets Campaign.

Efurd wins scholarship

Reagan Efurd, right, accepts a certificate from Dr. Dia Hardeman as the 2013 recipient of the Thomas Carter Memorial Scholarship given annually by Dodson Family Chiropractic. Ms. Efurd will be attending Texas A&M in the fall. The scholarship is worth $500.

Bradshaw wins at gun tourney

Carson T. Bradshaw won second place in the Senior I Trap competition, first place in Senior I Skeet competition, first place in Senior I Whiz Bang 5 Stand competition and High Over All Points at the 4-H District IV shoot held at the Terrell Rifle and Pistol Club in Terrell on June 7. The freshman at Pittsburg High School is the son of Richard and Connie Bradshaw and is a  member of the Titus County 4-H shooting sports team.

Students at PISD ahead of state class on test

Pittsburg fifth graders were the stars when it came to STARR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) testing. One hundred percent of those students passed the math portion of the state test.
