Wreck kills high school sophomore

A Pittsburg High School sophomore was killed in an automobile accident Monday morning. Loida Trinidad, 15, was one of nine teenagers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Pittsburg seniors shows dangers of drunk driving with staged wreck

A horrific scene met the eyes of seniors at Pittsburg High School as they viewed the carnage of a staged wreck on the parking lot.
Firefighters scrambled over the wreck, using the Jaws of Life to cut the roof off to get the students out of the wrecked vehicle. Ambulance workers were on scene to handle the injuries, and Erman Smith Funeral Home drove up at the end to wheel away the body of one student.

New e-cigarette shop opens in Pittsburg

Richard Higgs, center, the owner of the new shop Dragon Vapors, cuts the ribbon on his new business venture. Mr. Higg’s shop, located in the shopping center on Lafayette Street, will be selling electronic cigarettes from his shop, an aid to help people stop smoking.
