Breaking: Fire rips through house on 556

By Kim Cox

Nobody knows how long the fire at 2096 FM 556 had been burning before the neighbor across the street called the fire department.

Renee Tomlin said a vehicle pulled into her driveway and told her about the fire. The driver didn’t have a phone to call it in and asked Mrs. Tomlin to let the fire department know.

“It’s been empty for quite a while, 6-8 months,” said Mrs. Tomlin. “It is owned by an older man.”

Mrs. Tomlin said she doesn’t know what might have caused the fire, but “my power has been flickering at my house.”
