Undefeated Pirates lead district in soccer

The Pirate Soccer team now leads the 4A Region 2, District 13 Soccer as the only undefeated team. The have outscored all comers and as yet have not been scored upon by any district opponent.

Tuesday, Feb. 13

To recap the Pirates played Liberty-Eylau at home. They crushed the Leopards 11-0.

Lady Pirates gear up for softball season

Thursday, Feb. 15

The Lady Pirate Softball started on the downside as they dropped a double header scrimmage to Mount Pleasant. Head Coach Randy Caudle moved players around a bit. The battery in the first part of game was senior Madison Sansom catching and Trinity Aycock and Ananda Garrison. The highlight of this game was a two run homer by McKenna Wood that registered the only scores.

The scrimmage game was interrupted by rain and after play resumed Sydney Reynolds got the only hit and Makayla Jones was walked and then managed two steals. There was no box score recorded for the scrimmage.

Eagles split doubleheader with Hutchinson Community College

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Baseball team split a double header with Hutchinson on Thursday. The Eagles won game one 7-1 and dropped the second game 9-7.

In the opener, the eagles had a big third inning which propelled them to the win. Taylor Barber, Manny Garcia, and Matt Scheurich all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

The Eagles actually got things started in the first inning when Garcia doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Then in the third they notched five more runs, including home runs by Barber, Garcia, and Scheurich.

Pirate Basketball Weekly Report

Tuesday, Feb. 6

The Pirates defeated their district opponent, the North Lamar Panthers away, 53 to 46 in the second round of 4A Region II District 14 Basketball. Jaylon Jimmerson after being ill for the las game, returned to play and scored 20 points. Keithlen Griffin scored 18 points, and Cody Jones scored nine.

North Lamar slips by Lady Pirates, 45-44

Tuesday, Feb. 6

The Lady Pirates basketball team played their last game of the season away at North Lamar and lost by one point. Down by four points, Sydney Reynolds sank her last 3-pointer shot of her high school career in the last seconds of the game to move the team within one point of a tie only to see time run out.

The Lady Pirates lost their District 14 game with the Pleasant Grove Lady Hawks, 78 to 28. Sydney Waldrep and Sydney Reynolds both scored eight points, Astella Miles sank seven and snagged 10 rebounds. Maliyah Jackson grabbed six rebounds and blocked two shots.

Pirate Basketball weekly report

The Pirates won their 4A Region II District 14 Basketball game with the Atlanta Rabbits at home. The team is now won one and lost four in the district. Most observers were surprised the Pirates had lost their first four and were pleased the team finally came to play.

Jaylon Jimmerson scored 20 points, Keithlen Griffin scored 15, Ben Thompson netted 10, Cody Jones hit 9 baskets, and eight points were scored by Keontae Burns and Ty Hickman each.

The Lady Pirates began the second round of 4A Region II, District 14 games Tuesday, Jan. 23. The team fell to the Atlanta Lady Rabbits 88 to 52 in Tuesday’s game. Sydney Waldrep scored 15 points, Sydney Reynolds scored 11, and Astella Miles netted 10. On defense Asia Palmer had nine rebounds and Maliyah Jackson caught seven.

Lady Pirate Basketball Weekly

Thursday, Jan. 18: The Lady Pirates fell to the Liberty-Eylau Leopards 81 – 36. The Lady Pirates are now in a tie for last place with North Lamar, both with a, won one and lost four record. As of Tuesday, Jan. 23, Pleasant Grove is 5-0, Liberty- Eylau - 3-1, Atlanta - 2-1, Paris - 2-3, and N. Lamar - 1-4 tied with Pittsburg at 1-4.
