Lady Pirates Basketball hosts successful camp

The 2018 Lady Pirate summer basketball camp was an enormous success as 52 future Lady Pirates basketball players attended.

This was the first camp for the new Pittburg High School Girls Athletic Coordinator and Head Lady Pirate Basketball Coach John Chatham.

PHS to host summer athletic camps

The Pittsburg Lady Pirates basketball team and John Catham, the new PHS Head Girls Basketball coach, will host a Summer Basketball Camp May 29–31.

The camp is open to girls who will be in 1st through 9th grades girls in August. There will be three sessions. The first session will be held from 8-9 a.m. for grades 1 through 3. Session 2 will be from 10- 11:30 a.m. for grades 4 through 6. Session 3 will be held from noon to 2 p.m. for grades 7 through 9. The cost is $20, which includes a camp t-shirt.

NTCC Eagles end season in championship heartbreaker

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Baseball team just missed out a trip to the JUCO World Series May 16 after a heartbreaking 8-7 loss against San Jacinto College in the Region 14 championship game.

After going scoreless in the first inning, both teams’ strong offenses got fired up in the second. San Jac scored two and NTCC answered with a three-run homer by Matt Scheurich to take the lead. San Jac managed to tie things up in the third and take a brief lead in the top of the fourth as they added one more. The Eagles responded with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a homer by Taylor Barber, bringing the score to 6-4 going into the fifth.

Pirate Baseball drops two to Kilgore

The Pittsburg Pirate Baseball team ended post season play after dropping two games to Kilgore. In game one on Friday, May 11, it was a Kilgore blowout with a score of 13- 4. The Pirates had been leading until the top of the fifth inning when Kilgore went ahead by one run. Kilgore ran up the score in the top of the seventh with eight more runs. In the bottom of the seventh the Pirates were unable to get anything going. The story is in the stats as Kilgore racked up 15 hits to Pitts’ five.

 

Ty Jordan started the game for Pittsburg. He allowed six hits and three runs in four and a third innings, struck out two and walked one. Jake Jackson and Dakota Durfee entered the game as relief, throwing one and twothirds innings and one inning respectively

State 4x200 relay results

The 4x200 State Relay team are front row, left to right, Keithlen Griffin, Cade Busch, Kentericus Williams, and Jaylon Jimmerson. Team alternates, back row left to right, Keonte Burns, and Kartrez Andrews. The Pitt team finished eighth in the State of Texas in 4X200m 4A relay. Not bad for two freshmen, one sophomore, and three juniors. They’ll be back next year

Pirates blow-out Brownsboro for Bi-District, 2 Games to 0

The Pirates played Brownsboro Bears in a best of three in the Bi-District playoff. The Pirates won both games to become the 2018 Bi-District Champions.

Game One:

The first game played in Whitehouse High School, Thursday, May 03, at 6:45PM. The Pirate’s slammed the Bears 11 to 01, racking up nine hits. Brett McGee led off on the mound, for the first four innings. Brett allowed two hits, no runs, stuck out five and walked none.
