Funeral services for Edith G. Roberts, 92, wereheld on Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at Bates-Cooper Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Roberts was born April 18, 1922 in Mount Pleasant and died Feb. 20 in Royce City. Interment was held at Green Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services for Grathel Kennedy, 54, of Gilmer, were held Thursday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. at Pine Bluff First Baptist Church in Pittsburg. Officiating was the Rev. Eddie Ballard Jr. Mr. Kennedy was born Feb. 20, 1960 in Pittsburg and died Feb. 12 at Good Sheppard Medical Center in Longview. Interment was held at Union Chapel Cemetery.

Funeral services for Alfonso Reyes Sr., 58, of Pittsburg, were held on Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Churchin Pittsburg. Officiating was Father John Gomez. Mr. Reyes was born Jan. 17, 1952 in Mexico and died Wednesday, Feb. 11 at East Texas Medical Center Tyler. Interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Strube

Cindy Strube left this life Feb. 10 with her family by her side. She was born Jan, 12 1952 to Cy and Joyce Roach. Cindy grew up in Mount Pleasant, and made a host of lifelong friends; she attended Mount Pleasant schools, and graduated from high school in 1970. She attended the University of Arkansas her freshman year and transferred to East Texas State University where she graduated in 1974, and in 1975 she received a graduate degree in education from Stephen F. Austin State University. Mrs. Strube taught in the Garland and Mount Pleasant School Districts.

Her funeral services were, Feb. 14 at Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment was held at the Nevills Chapel Cemetery.

Holt

Staff Sgt. Justin Lee Holt, 31, died, Friday, Feb.6, 2015, at Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colo. Mr. Lee was born Sept. 3, 1983, in Paris to Robert and Judy Davidson Holt.  He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Holt graduated from Pittsburg High School in 2002 and joined the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Bravo Troop 2-1 CAV Company 4th ID and stationed in Fort Carson, Colo.  Justin served in Kuwait, four years in Germany and had two tours in Iraq.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Travis “Budd” Davidson.

 

Graveside services with Full Military Honors were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Avery Cemetery with Rev. James Brown officiating.

Funeral services for Annie B. Jones Hiner, 91, of Gilmer were held on Feb. 14, at noon at First Assembly of God.  Officiating was the Rev. Charles Hall.
Mrs. Hiner was born Sep. 24, 1923 in Longview and died Feb. 7 in Beaumont. Interment was held at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer.

Fuller

Charles Fuller, 84, of Pittsburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Southern Wind Manor in Pittsburg.  Mr. Fuller was born Feb. 7, 1931 in Pritchett. His funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg with Virgil Faires officiating. Interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Mr. Fuller was a member of the Greer Boulevard Church of Christ in Pittsburg; he worked for Lone Stars Steel, Pilgrim’s Pride and Bo Pilgrim. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He is survived by his children and one son-in-law: Jona Fuller of Pittsburg, Monty Fuller of Pittsburg, Kathy and Bruce Carpenter of Pittsburg; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fuller was preceded in death by his parents: Ben Fuller and Katy Lee Plant; his wife, Vashti Horton Fuller, and 15 siblings.
