Kids will find elves on the shelves at Holiday Story Time

Library Corner By Nancy Murillo:

The Library will host a Holiday Story Time on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m.
You might have heard of a magical elf or one that sits upon a shelf. This year, the elves have come ot the library to have some fun. Each day they sit and watch for people who like to read a lot. At night, they search in all the nooks looking for their favorite books. Come and take a look around, you never know where they might be found. They might be listening from the shelves, as we read their favorite Holiday tales.

Habitat for Humanity helps build ramp for Camp County

Habitat for Humanity of Camp County, in collaboration with the Texas Ramps affiliate, Longview Ramps invites everyone in this area to help us construct a ramp for a local resident on Saturday, Dec. 7.  The local Habitat affiliate, according to Mary Carter Lloyd, President, was advised that Arbea Hollins of Lafayette had undergone surgery earlier this year and was now wheelchair bound.
Getting out of the house is near impossible for him because of the height of his porch and steps.  Habitat board member Jerry Goforth contacted the Texas Ramps organization.  They provide ramp building materials and training for local community groups who want to participate in helping the disabled meet some of their accessibility challenges.

Theatre Northeast gets curious

Theatre Northeast is set to present the popular children’s comedy, Curiosity Cat by Chris Grabenstein, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. and December 8 at 2:05 p.m. in the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College.
From the imaginative mind of award winning author Chris Grabenstein comes a very funny, touching new comedy filled with laughter, learning, and heart.
Curiosity Cat is the story about displaced children and homeless cats, as well as family and the value of friendship, determination and “curiosity.”
When their mother becomes very ill, Claire and Charlie are forced to live with their father’s Aunt Ginny. A stray cat named Curiosity also wanders into the house.
When he accidentally breaks Claire’s prized music box, she immediately throws him out into the streets.
Being homeless is an adventure, not a concern, for a cat this curious and cool.
