Mr. Kenny Nugent

Mr. Kenny Nugent, 59, of Pittsburg was born July 6, 1958 in Pittsburg to Hilliard Bain Nugent and Bobbie Sue Seale Nugent and passed away on Feb. 19, 2018 in Dallas. Mr. Nugent was a graduate of Gilmer High School, and was s elf-employeed as a dairy and chicken farmer the majority of his life. He worked for Longview Bridge and Road until 2012 and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pittsburg Rodeo Association since 2004, where he also served on the board for 12 years, and a member of the Farm Bureau Board.

Ann Taylor Reeves

Reeves served on the Board of Directors for East Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (ETCADA) from 1984 to November 6, 2017. During her service at ETCADA, Ann was a valuable member who was very dedicated to the Mission and worked tirelessly to further the services and ETCADA’s outreach in the 23 counties that it serves. In 1995 and in 2011, Ms. Reeves served as the Board President. Throughout her years on the Board, Ann served on every committee lending her expertise to the entire organization. In 2017, ETCADA moved into the County building on Mill Street, thanks to the assistance of Ms. Reeves and the generosity of County Judge A. J. Mason. Ann was born in Dallas, May 8, 1935. She attended Pittsburg High school and graduate in the top seven percent of her class in 1953. She attended college at The University of Texas at Austin, and graduated in 1957, with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Drama Education.

Kathryn Hoffman Burns of Pittsburg, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at home. From her birth on April 2, 1948, to her death, she nourished the people around her with love, humor, and her vibrant spirit. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at The Great Room at Overture Ridgmar, 6755 Ridgmar Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas. The family invites you to stay for a meal immediately after. Family, friends, and others whose lives Kathryn touched are welcome to reminisce, support each other and, of course, just chat. Kathryn received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Maryland. She continued her education at Fairfield University, from which she received her Master of Arts Degree in Corporate Communications.

Atkinson

Zina Atkinson, age 75, of Pittsburg, passed away Monday, Jan . 15, 2018 in Pittsburg. Zina was born April 30, 1942 in Spur, Texas to Joe Bailey Kimmel and Gracie Louise Westfall Kimmel. She wed E.J. Atkinson on June 26, 1959. Zina is survived by her three children: Jaye Anne McVay of Pittsburg, Ernie Joe Atkinson of Spur, Texas, and Johnny Bob Atkinson of Winnsboro; as well as numerous grandchildren, her brother: Elzie Kimmel and wife Paula of Sawyer, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband E.J. Atkinson; a son: Ronnie James Atkinson; and her parents: Joe and Gracie Kimmel. A graveside service w as held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan . 27 at Dickens Cemetery in Dickens.

Attaway

Robbie Attaway, 70, of M ount Pleasant was born Aug. 20, 1947 in Pittsburg to Howard Hoff Attaway and Elizabeth Mae Kinsfather Attaway and passed away on Feb . 3, 2018 in M ount Pleasant . He was a Baptist and former commercial pilot for America West Airlines. He was currently a corporate pilot for Avtex. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Attaway of Mount Pleasant; children, Robert Lynn Attaway and his wife Melody of Pittsburg, Amanda Lynn Conklin and her husband John of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jesse Howard Attaway and his wife Jenna of Gilbert, Ariz.; grandchildren, Whitney, Jacob, Kyle, Matthew, Alexia, Autumn, and Kylee; one great grandchild, Scarlette; and sister, Sue Matthews and her husband Marvin of Gladewater. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy Lunsford. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb . 7, 2018 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be between 5 and 7 p.m.

Harold L. “Slo” Mabrey

Harold L. “Slo” Mabrey, who was born on May 24, 1933 in Pittsburg, died Jan. 21 in St. Louis, Mo. He was 84. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis Mr. Mabrey was an Aviation Procurement Specialist for the U. S. Department of the Army; a Senior Executive Service (SES) for the Department of the Army as well as serving in the Army from 1955-1957. He also received five meritorious Civilian Service Awards: Secretary of Army’s Exceptional Civilian Service Award, the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award, the Department of Defense Management Award, Blacks in Government Civil Service Achievement Award and Lincoln University Distinguished Alumni. He received a bachelor of arts in business administration at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., a master of business administration from George Washington University in Washington, D. C.
