Date of birth: March 13, 1984

Full name: Alan Joseph Robertson

Connection to Pittsburg: I was born in Pittsburg in the last years in which the Pittsburg hospital delivered babies. I was raised in Pittsburg, was a member of First Baptist Church, and attended Margaret Shumate’s Kids’ Place and Pittsburg ISD schools until I graduated from Pittsburg High School in 2002.

Family/relatives that live in Pittsburg: My parents, Joe Rex and Melanie Robertson, my brother and sister-in-law, Nick and DeAnna Robertson, my nephew, Brayden Robertson, and too many other relatives in my extended family to count.

Jan. 17 Billy and the Bordertown Music Band in Performance e First Pentecostal Church of Pittsburg, 164 County Road 4120 (Wilson Road behind the old Oscar’s), will have special music from Billy and the Bordertown Music Band on Sunday, Jan. 17 e public is invited.

Jan. 18 MLK Celebration HYPE (Helping Young People Excel) is having their 16th annual MLK celebration at Winnsboro community center on Jan 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. e theme this year is “Planting the Seed.” Some of the proceeds will go to the MLK park. Pittsburg Duplicate Bridge club meets

The Pittsburg Duplicate Bridge Club met at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 525 Elm Street in Pittsburg. Winners from the Jan. 5 match were north/south: Janie and Jerrell Wolaver with 72.50 percent, Charles and Heather Sanders with 55.50 percent, Jim Kober and Jean Huskey with 48.75 percent, and Jan and Sandy Jenkins with 48.33 percent.

• Former Northeast Texas Community College student Dr. Dia Dodson, class of 1999, presented a $500 check on behalf of Dodson Family Chiropractic in Longview, to Dr. Charles Florio, Northeast Texas Community College president. e funds will be used to establish a memorial scholarship at NTCC for a Camp County student in memory of omas Carter.

• Alan Robertson, a 20-year-old senior Howard Payne University student from Pittsburg, recently completed an internship in the o ce of Texas Gov. Rick Perry. • Bertha Dooley celebrates her 105th birthday.

County Republicans to meet Saturday, Jan. 16

The Camp County Republican Party’s rst meeting of 2016 is Jan. 16 at the Pizza Inn on Highway 271 north at 9:00 a.m. is meeting and the Feb. 20 meeting are the only meetings before the primary on March 1. We have many issues to discuss and decisions to make at this meeting. ere will also be some candidates at the meeting. Please make plan to attend. Another event that we will discuss and plan for is the Northeast Texas Community College Candidates Forum on Feb. 2, candidates for Texas State Representative and the Texas State Senate race will be there, and all but one candidate has con rmed.
