By SUSAN TAFT Contributor to The Pittsburg Gazette

Kenneth McCurdy took over as president of the 557 Crime Watch program in March. Since that time, he and others have worked diligently to revitalize the program. He said he has seen rsthand the bene ts of people not hesitating to call the sheriff’s office. “When a tractor was stolen in our neighborhood, several people called the sheri ’s o ce and reported they had seen it on the roads and the driver seemed to be acting nervous,” Mr. McCurdy said. “Deputies were already on their way when I saw it and called it in. “We are in a neighborhood 24 hours a day, we see what’s going on, and we need to keep in contact with the sheriff’s office,” he said. “I think it’s important that we work with local law enforcement, and it is very important that we support them.” Mr. McCurdy said everyone is welcome to attend the Crime Watch meetings.
