Warren

Services for a former resident of Pittsburg, Paul R. Warren, 84, were held at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, May 3 with Bro. Chris Cowan and Charles French officiating. Interment was in New Mine Cemetery.
Mr. Warren who lived in Atlanta, was born Oct. 25, 1929 in Gregg County. He died Tuesday, April 29 in Texarkana. Mr. Warren served in the Navy during the Korean War and worked as an electrician at Kaiser Steel and Lone Star Steel. He was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his spouse, Charlie N. Warren of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-inlaw Paula and David Torr of Pittsburg and Pamela Carson and fiancé Bobby Clark of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hosia W. and Alice C. Warren; two sisters, Dorothy Whatley and Catherine Surratt.

Rosie Lee Brooks is indicted in Upshur County on a murder charge. She is accused of killing Freda Cline. Loyd Craig is also indicted on arson charges for setting the vehicle on fine.

Garnett Mitchell named to All-State basketball team. Dr. Larry Jack Richardson wins a seat on the Pittsburg Independent School District school board. Girls golf team takesfirst place at Regional tournament. Team members are Valerie Doss, Ranonne McAlester, Stacy Kendall, Kim Clemens and Jamie Antwine.

Mother’s Day program
Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church members will host their annual Homecoming/Mother’s Day program on May 11. The program begins at 11 a.m. and everyone is invited to attend.
The pastor-moderator will be Rev. B.R. Hargest and the speaker of the hour will be Rev. Dr. Patrick McBeath from Dallas. The mistress of the program will be Sister Ebbie Crear. The church is located 3.5 miles east of town on Farm to Market Road 2254.

Powder-puff football game to be held

The powder-puff football game will be held on May 15 at 6 p.m. at the high school football field. Tickets will be $3 at the door and all proceeds will go to the Pittsburg High School junior class of 2015. The powderpuff game pits the senior class against the junior class in a fun match on the gridiron with girls becoming the football players and the guys becoming the cheerleaders and coaches.

Cordell Averece Tison was arrested on April 29 by the Pittsburg Police Independent School District (PPISD) for disorderly conduct.
 
Sherman Dean Jones was arrested on April 29 by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) for harassment.
 
Kassandra Marie Harmon was arrested on April 29 by the Pittsburg Police Department (PPD) for justice of the peace warrants and is being held for Franklin County.
 
Alisha Kole Searcy was arrested on April 29 by the PPD for theft of $50 > $500.
 
Bennie Charles Brown was arrested on April 29 by the PPD for assault for bodily injury and family violence.
 
Javonte O’Keith Morrow was arrested on April 29 by the CCSO for failure to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Camp County Democrats to meet

The Camp County Democrats will meet on Tuesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Douglass Alumni Center, 408 Terry. This will be a tri-county meeting with members from Titus, Upshur and Camp County. Staff members for Senator Wendy Davis’ Gubernatorial Campaign will be in attendance and will make presentationis. Dessert will be served.
