The Camp County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activities:
 
Kathy Holley Kite was arrested on June 15 by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) for driving while intoxicated.
 
Joseph Wayne Coulter was arrested on June 16 by the Pittsburg Police Department (PPD) for capias pro fines and a hold in Titus County.
 
Cynthia Annette Puckett was arrested on June 17 by the CCSO for public intoxication.
 
Jason Neal McGowan was arrested on June 19 by the CCSO for assault causing bodily injury and family violence.
 
DeQurious Marquise Robins was arrested on June 18 by the PPD for burglary of a habitat and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
 
Tuala Elrica Avinger was arrested on June 18 by the PPD for capias pro fines.

Police Department executes narcotics bust

After requesting a narcotics search warrant, Pittsburg Police officers arrested Allan Bernard Moore, 43, of Pittsburg on June 6. Officers located illegal narcotics and stolen property in the residence and charged him with three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and theft of a firearm and other misdemeanors. The arrest was in the 400 block of Rusk Street.
 
The police department was assisted by the Camp County Sheriff’s Department, Camp County Constable’s office, and Texas Department of Public Safety-Highway Patrol and a K-9 from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department.

Three vehicles involved in crash on Highway 271

On June 5, at approximately 4 p.m., Pittsburg Police officers responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 800 block of North Greer Boulevard.
 
Based on the crash investigation, officers determined that a 2007 Dodge being driven by Tevonrick Lee Finley was slowing down as the vehicle in front of him was turning into a private drive. That vehicle, a 1991 Ford was driven by Larry Don Heath.
 
The 2007 Dodge was struck from behind by a 1998 Ford being operated by Julian Benjamin Toro Herrera pushing it into the 1991 Ford.
 
Mr. Herrera was cited for driving while license invalid and no insurance and Mr. Heath was cited for driving while license invalid.

Accident claims the life of local resident

David Moreno-Rosales, 30, was arrested June 11 for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and two counts of intoxication assault after Jamie Delyn Mumma, 29, was killed on Sunday, June 8 at approximately 10:50 p.m. Two children in the car with Ms. Mumma, ages 9 and 6, were seriously injured. The 9 year old was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Pittsburg and the 6 year old was taken to Children’s Hospital in Dallas.
 
According to Trooper Jeannie Dark of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the two 8vehicle accident occurred on Farm-to -market 556 when David Rosales-Moreno, driving a 1999 Chevrolet 1500, was traveling north on FM 556 and veered into Ms. Mumma, driving a 1998 Chrysler Sebring, who was traveling south. Both left fronts of the Chevrolet 1500 and the Chrysler collided.

Region 8 Education Service Center is pleased to announce that Judy Pollan, Superintendent of the Pittsburg Independent School District, will represent the region in the 2014 Superintendent of the Year state competition.
 
Over the years, the Texas Association of School Boards Superintendent of the Year award program has honored outstanding Texas administrators for achievement and excellence in public school administration.
 
Candidates are chosen for their strong leadership skills, dedication to improving the quality of education in their school districts, commitment to public support and involvement in education, and ability to build good employee relations among teachers and staff members.

10 YEARS AGO

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Sonic Games and more than 2,300 drive-ins kicked off the competition in January.

The Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center (NETCAC) and Trails Country Center for the Arts (TCCA) will hold their third annual Benefit Fish Fry on Friday, June 25.

Camp County Republicans to meet

The Camp County GOP’s regular monthly meeting is this Saturday at the Pizza Inn. The meeting will start at 9 a.m. and a light breakfast will be available.
 
Members who attended the State Convention in Fort Worth will lead a discussion on the party platform, breakout sessions, candidates, and other issues that were, on occasion, contentious at the convention.
