Dave Wilkerson

Dave Wilkerson, Jr. passed away Friday, Oct. 6 at Mesquite Specialty Hospital, Mesquite at the age of 97. His service was held Saturday, Oct. 21 at 12 p.m. at St. Beulah C.M.E. Church, Pittsburg with Elder Samuel Holmes as eulogist and burial to follow at Rocky Mound Cemetery, Pittsburg under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Pittsburg.

Nelson, Jr.

A.B. Nelson, Jr., 84, of Leesburg was born Jan.14, 1933 in Upshur County to Acie Boyd Nelson, Sr. and Ona Smith Nelson and passed away Oct. 17 in Longview. Mr. Nelson worked for almost 30 years at Lone Star Steel before working as a mechanic and head of transportation for the Pittsburg Independent School District. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 sisters. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Billie Nelson of Leesburg; son, Larry and Paula Nelson of Longview; daughters, Judy and T.J. Ozbun of Gonzales, La, Robin and Bob Dierkes of Carthage, and Pam and Jim Harper of Longview; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg with burial followed at Piney Grove Cemetery in Camp County. The family will received friends Thursday evening between 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Piney Grove Cemetery Fund.

Wesley

Marie Ryan Wesley passed away Monday, Oct. 9 after a long battle with multiple illnesses and ultimately renal failure. Marie was the forth and youngest daughter of Matt and Margaret James Ryan. She was born on her mother’s birthday July 8, 1955 in Dallas and raised primarily in Cason. Marie worked briefly at several jobs in her younger years, but spent most of her life caring for her husband of 41 years and her three children. She and her husband retired to Pittsburg from the Galveston area in 2010. Marie never met a stranger. She was funny, kind, full of advice and outspoken. She will be greatly missed. Marie is survived by her husband, Larry Carl Wesley; sons, Michael Wesley, Larry “Buzz” Wesley, Jr. and wife Kristy; daughter, Christi Derry; six grandchildren; sisters, Beth and Steve Baxter, Beckie and Kimmey Marino; and mother in law, Faye Wesley. She was preceded in death by her sister Kay Ryan and parents, Matt Ryan and Margaret Ryan Baisden.

Fannie Elizabeth “Beth” Young

Fannie Elizabeth “Beth” Young, passed away Oct . 7, 2017 at the age of 89 years. She was born Sep t.11, 1928 in Singer, L a. to Paul Aldophus Culpepper and Mettie Hamblin-Culpepper. She is survived by three children, Judy Elizabeth Baker, of Pittsburg, Terry Suzanne Moncus of Smithville, and Dr. Robert Herman Bryant of Kyle. Also surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Labermyer of Lockheart and Alma Clardy of Arlington. She leaves 13 grandchildren: Lori Jean Guest of Cason, William L. Baker Jr. of San Antonio, Wesley Travis Baker of Pittsburg, and Nancy Elizabeth Williams of Nashville, Tenn. Also, Steven Glen Mott of Smithville, David James Mott of Dallas, Kathryn Dianna Johnson of Garfield, Sandy Elizabeth Sepulveda of Smithville and Anna Marcella Carter of Bastrop. As well as, Krista Lee Bryant of Kyle, Aaron Bryant of Minot, N . D ., Nathan Bryant of De- Leon, and Hannah J. Loudder of Springlake. Beth Young is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

Nadine Laird Richardson

Nadine Laird Richardson, of Pittsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 4, at the age of 97. Nadine was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Camp County to Paul and Edna Houston Laird. Nadine graduated from Pittsburg High School and went on to b usiness s chool before embarking on a career of over 40 years as a teller at Pittsburg National Bank. Nadine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many. In addition to working at the bank Nadine also enjoyed spending time volunteering at the Camp County Rural Heritage Museum, and also a volunteer for activities at the nursing home. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was the oldest living member.

Michael Murray

Michael Murray of the Blodgett Community passed away Monday, October2, 2017 at the age of 77 years. He was born on April 13, 1940 to Casler B. and Beatrice Estelle (Rogers) Murray. Michael worked as a railroad detective for B & S Railroad. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant. He honorably served our country in the United States Army and was a Mason. He is preceded in death by Casler B Murray, Father, Beatrice Estelle Rogers, Mother Pat Murray, Dianne Holloway, Casler B Murray, Bill Murray. Survived by Norma Ferrell Murray, 2 Daughters Terri Brossard and husband Pat, Frisco, Tx & Granddaughter Gabbi. Tammy Harper and Granddaughter Kristen & Mike Thomas, Argyle,Tx.
