JAIL LOG for April 13, 2017

John Dee Jackson was arrested by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office on April 3 for a parole violation.
Mario Justo Rivera was arrested by the Department of Public Safety on April 4 on a hold for Titus County and capias fines.
James Calvin Elders was arrested by the CCSO on April 5 on a deadly conduct warrant and terroristic threat.
Danny Paul Johnson was arrested by the Pittsburg Police Department on April 5 for justice of the peace warrants, driving while license invalid, previous conviction and city class C tickets.
Derek Deion Allen Jr. was arrested by the PPD on April 6 for assault causing bodily injury.
Ricardo Ornelas was arrested by the PPD on April 6 for driving while license invalid, previous conviction.
Jeneka Dechon Hamilton was arrested by the PPD on April 7 on city warrants and holds for Titus and Morris Counties.

Thefts, burglaries plague Thunderbird Point

The Camp County Sheriff’s Department has arrested two men on warrants in connection with two unrelated burglaries in the Thunderbird Point area.
Corey Duane Sutton, 28, turned himself in at the sheriff’s office on March 17 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. John Dee Jackson was arrested at his residence in Thunderbird Point March 23 by Sheriff Alan McCandless and Chief Deputy Randal Lain Jr.
Sutton was charged with burglary of a habitation stemming from a burglary that occurred on County Road 2606. Jackson, 45, was charged with burglary of a building for a burglary on County Road 2610. Jackson was also charged with possession of a controlled substance over 1 gram under 4 grams.

ETMC Pittsburg recognized for clean hospital rooms

ETMC (East Texas Medical Center) Pittsburg is receiving national recognition for having some of the cleanest hospital patient rooms in the country.
ETMC Pittsburg is one of the top three hospitals in the country in the category of hospitals rooms always being clean.
“Our housekeeping staff make inpatient rooms a top priority and are focused on keeping the rooms clean,” said J. Warren Robicheaux, administrator. “Housekeeping has a very good relationship with nursing, and this is reflected in their team work. Housekeeping team members are in the rooms as often as clinical staff making sure our patients have clean rooms and are pleased with their stay.”

Mount Vernon Music appearing April 10 at Whatley Center

MOUNT PLEASANT -- The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host a concert by Mount Vernon Music Monday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Whatley foyer.  
The string quintet performance will feature Mark Miller and Yuko Mansell on violin, Ute Miller and Sarah Kienle on viola and Zachary Mansell on cello.
Program selections will include Quintet in C major K. 515 by Mozart and Quintet in G major op. 111 by Brahms.
“Mount Vernon Music has developed a huge following in Franklin County and we are very pleased to bring them to the Whatley Center for an intimate foyer performance,” said Carolyn Franks,director of the Whatley Center.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Mount Vernon Music is the final performance in a three-part series The Sounds of Northeast Texas, which highlights the talent of regional musicians.

Highway 271 Car Cruise is this weekend

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Car enthusiasts will have something to do this weekend as the annual Highway 271 Car Cruise comes to town. 
The event will span three other East Texas cities: Mount Pleasant, Gilmer and Gladewater. 
The day will kick off in Mount Pleasant with a breakfast before trekking over to Pittsburg from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a snack. 
The next stop will bring cruisers to Gilmer for a lunch before rounding up the trip in Gladewater for desserts.

Texas Rangers investigating death of jail inmate, PHS graduate

GILMER -- Texas Rangers are investigating the death of an Upshur County inmate that happened during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 26, after he coughed up a bag of what “appeared to be illegal narcotics,” according to a press release issued by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
Desmond Juwon Woods, was booked into the jail on a warrant for violation of parole last Sunday afternoon. 
Around 8 p.m., Woods stated he did not feel well, and EMS was called to the jail.

Woman found dead in Union Grove community

The Upshur County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman was found dead in her home Tuesday morning (April 4), according to KLTV.com.

KLTV reported about 12:30 a.m., deputies responded to a call about a shooting in the 100 block of Private Road 3367 in the Union Grove community. When officials arrived, they found the body of Miranda Streed, 23, in her home.

According to Sheriff Larry Webb, Streed’s family has been notified and Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Wyone Manes has ordered an autopsy, KLTV reported.

Webb told KLTV the investigation is ongoing and asked that anyone with information on the case contact the sheriff’s office at 903-843-2541 or Upshur County Crime Stoppers 903-843-3131.

According to Streed’s Facebook page, she was from Longview and was a single mother with one son.
