The Camp County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activities:
Taad Shaquan Ward was arrested by the Department of Public Safety Nov. 1 for a warrant. Ward paid fine and was released Nov. 2.
Crystal Mae West was arrested by the Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 1 for fraud use and possession of ID info.
Christopher Deonn Lallor was arrested by the Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 1 for an aggravated warrant dealing with child support.
On Nov. 2 Domingo Perez Rocha was arrested by the Police Department for assault family violence two times or more.
Cody Wayne Reger was arrested by the Department of Public Safety Nov. 2 for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Iqnecio Rivera Parelin was arrested by the Police Department Nov. 2 for hold in Titus County and bonded out Nov. 3.
Carla Rosales was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office Nov. 2 for public intoxication and released Nov. 3.

New officer

Mayor Shawn Kennington swears in new police officer Kellie Huggins has as a patrol officer for the Pittsburg Police Department. Ms. Huggins recently graduated from the Police Academy at Northeast Texas Community College. Prior to being hired as a patrol officer, Ms. Huggins served as the Animal Control and Code Compliance officer for the City of Pittsburg for 17 months.

Frank Harrison of Gordon Mattison Post 422 presents Parker Sewell with an American flag. Parker spoke to the Post about his experience while attending Boys State in July.  The American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State is a national premier program which teaches participates how government works while developing leadership skills and an appreciation for your rights as a citizen. Parker spoke on how this experience improved his leadership skills and his knowledge of government.

The Camp County Democrats will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Douglass Alumni Center,  408 Terry St., Pittsburg. Our speaker will be Bill Brannon, past executive director of the Texas Democratic Party. Coffee and dessert will be served.

Fundraiser for project graduation is Nov. 11

Project Graduation 2014 will be having a fundraiser at Pizza Inn on Monday, Nov. 11 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. A portion of all proceeds will go towards Project Graduation.
Students from the senior class will be working during the fundraiser and all tips will also go towards Project Graduation.

The Broadway Tenors to perform at Whatley Center

Fans of Broadway musicals won’t want to miss the chance to see The Broadway Tenors live at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College Musical theater’s best leading men will transport you from the Golden Age and back in a thrilling and moving evening of Broadway’s most beloved hits. The show is Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students. 
The audience will hear favorites from South Pacific, West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Jersey Boys, and more. Brent Barrett, John Cudia, and Kyle Dean Massey have been tapped for the NTCC performance.
“I feel extremely lucky to be able to host Broadway performers of this caliber at the Whatley Center. These guys perform in some of the top shows in the country separately and are joining up to provide us with a phenomenal showcase of talent,” Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said.

Anderson & Friberg

Anthony and Beverly Anderson of Pittsburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Anderson to Erikk Friberg of Pittsburg.
The bride elect graduated in 2001 as a home-schooled student, and in 2011 she graduated from the Association of Texas Midwives Training Program. Sarah now practices as a midwife.
Ms. Anderson is the granddaughter of the late P.B. & Pearl Anderson, and the late Alvin & Elsie Wright.
The groom is a 1999 graduate of Pittsburg High School and he received his bachelor’s of science in Professional Flight in 2012 from LeTourneau University. Erikk is now a commercial pilot.
Mr. Friberg is the son of Bill Friberg and Anita Steward, both of Pittsburg. He is the grandson of the late Gunard and Martha Friberg of Leesburg, and Ruby and the late Pete Logan of Pittsburg.
The couple will be wed Friday, Nov. 15, at Bethel Baptist Church, at 6:30 p.m. Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend.

Church news

Pine Bluff First Baptist Church will be serving a free Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 10.
This event is open to the public and will begin at 5 p.m. with a Thanksgiving service with guest speaker Pastor G. O’Neal. The dinner will be served after the service at 6.
Pine Bluff First Baptist Church is located at 409 Fulton Rd. in Pittsburg and pastored by Eddie A. Ballard Jr.

True Hope Fellowship Ministries will be hosting their ribbon cutting, Nov. 15 at 105 Jefferson St. Pittsburg at 4:30 p.m.
Bishop Burns is welcoming the community to join the ministry in their happy hour.
“We are so grateful to God just to be used to help hurting people, the homeless, offenders, those on probation and their families,” Bishop Burns said. “To the unsaved and rejected, Jesus came to save you and you are special to God.”

Pittsburg band earns superior performance award

The Pride of Pittsburg competed at the National Association of Military Marching Bands contest on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Stephen F. Austin State University’s Homer Bryce Stadium. The band performed along with 10 other 3A bands and was one of eight 3A bands to earn the Bobby Goff Superior Performance Award - NAMMB’s 1st division rating.
