By Tori Lyle

news@campcountynow.com

Two points cost Pittsburg’s 7on7 football team a chance at competing nationally Thursday, July 9, in a game against students from Hamshire-Fannett High School located in Hamshire, Texas. Pittsburg’s 7on7 team won the chance to compete at the state level in late June and travelled to College Station July 9 and 10.

In their first day of play, the team was 2-1 and down by 34 to 33 when a missed two-point conversion sent them into a three-way tie for second place. On Friday, the team played in the consolation bracket and fell to Giddings 47-27. Juniors and seniors from Pittsburg made up the 20-man summer league football team. The team is a voluntary summer league and not sanctioned by the University Interscholastic League.
