First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church would like to welcome their new preacher John Pflug Jr. Mr. Pflug graduated high school in Commerce and attended Texas Lutheran University in Seguin .
He began seminary at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2007.
Mr. Pflug has been married to his wife Brittany since 2007 and has a three year old daugher named Emma.
He is passionate about the gospel of Jesus Christ and humbled to be able to preach at 9 a.m. every Sunday.

Pittsburg Police Department
The Pittsburg Police Department is proud to announce that it will host an open house on Monday March 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  
The Police Department would like to invite everyone to tour the new police station.

Emmanuel Baptist Church
Emmanuel Baptist Church will be hosting a Biblical Prophecy Conference with Rev.  Bob Farber this coming Sunday, March 2, at 9:00 a.m., 10:25 a.m., and 5:00 p.m.  
On Sunday morning at both worship times he will give a global update on various topics, then Sunday evening he will give an overview of the teachings of the Bible as they relate to the coming of Christ.

20th Century Club meets at the museum for a documentary

Julia Truitt hosted The 20th Century Study Club in the Ezekiel Airship Room of the Camp County Museum. Following the meeting Mrs. Truitt presented the film documentary “When I Rise” This film portrays the life of international opera singer Barbara Smith Conrad of Center Point. A salad and dessert lunch prepared by one-half of the club members was enjoyed by all present. Pictured from left are: Sarah Johns, Julia Truitt and Rita Harvey

AgriLife hosts private applicator training and youth project show set to happen Feb. 28

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will be hosting a Private Applicator License training for Camp County Saturday, March 22.
The training will from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Aubrey E. Pilgrim Building, next to Pittsburg ISD Central Administration Building. The building is located at 402 Broach St in Pittsburg.
The cost for the training will be $50, which includes a Private Applicator Certification Package (PACP) and registration fee.
Participants must come by Extension Office to purchase the PACP and to pay registration fee by Friday, March 7.

Pittsburg Girl Scouts visit different local businesses

The Pittsburg Girl Scout Troops are up to some exciting things.
Recently they have toured the vet’s office to learn about being a vet.
The girls also toured East Texas Medical Center to learn about being a nurse or a doctor and learned about being a fireman.
Some of our Pittsburg Girls Scouts also fed and watered the horses at Safe Haven Horse Rescue Center and learned more about the horses that are rescued and adopted out through the center.

Safe Haven hosted a Girl Scout day last spring where the Girl Scouts could earn badges and will host another day this spring.

Habitat for Humanity gives back with ramp building

Habitat for Humanity of Camp County, in collaboration with the Texas Ramps affiliate Longview Ramps, invites everyone in this area to help construct a ramp for a local resident on Saturday, March 1.
The local Habitat affiliate, according to Mary Carter Lloyd, president, was advised that a local elderly couple was in need of a ramp to make their home more accessible for them.
Habitat board member Jerry Goforth contacted the family and the Texas Ramps organization who provide ramp building materials
This group offers training to individuals  who want to participate in helping the disabled meet some of their accessibility challenges.
Bill Slegir of the affiliate Longview Ramps, will provide the materials and work with Mr. Goforth and the Habitat volunteers on this ramp project.

Woodmen donate to CCSA

Woodmen of the World Lodge #279 makes a donation to Camp County Sports Association for the upcoming baseball and softball season.  Donating the check from Woodmen of the World are Dennis Taylor and D.C. “Beau” Brummell.  Accepting the check for $400 are CCSA board member Ann Waldrep, and players Trinity Hood and Drew Lawton.

Jay Lee Jones was arrested by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 18 for a terroristic threat and family violence.
Cason Paul Green was arrested by the Pittsburg Police Department Feb. 19 for evading arrest and criminal mischief.
Melinda Kay Axum was arrested by the Pittsburg Police Department Feb. 19 for motion to revoke and driving while intoxicated.
Felice Deshon Culpepper was arrested by the Pittsburg Police Department Feb. 19 for aggravated assault.
Calum Len Foldenauer was arrested by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 20 for theft of a firearm, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a dangerous drug, failure to I.D. and giving false or fictional information.
