The man accused of robbing two Pittsburg gas stations at gunpoint and setting fire to a school building was sentenced to 20 years behind bars last week after pleading guilty to the two counts of aggravated robbery in Camp County District Court last week.
Steven Marlin Schade, 45, of Arizona, entered his plea before Judge Danny Woodson Monday, March 17, in Camp County District Court.  He was represented by local court appointed attorney Steven Simmons.
According to local District Attorney, Charles C. Bailey, Mr. Schade has started his sentence at a prison in Texas, even though he had outstanding warrants in Utah.

Pittsburg coach resigns after allegations of unprofessional conduct involving a student

By Jeremy Weber

Pittsburg superintendent Judy Pollan accepted the resignation of Colby Dickson, biology teacher and coach at Pittsburg High School, during the regular March meeting Monday night.
The action came after allegations were brought before superintendent Judy Pollan that Mr. Dickson had engaged in an unprofessional relationship with a female student at the high school. Mrs. Pollan said there was no indication that the relationship in question was of a sexual nature.
“For several weeks we had some anonymous calls and letters with an allegation that one of our coaches had some type of a relationship with a student,” Mrs. Pollan said. “We take all allegations like this seriously. If someone tells us that something is happening we are going to investigate it.”

By Susan Taft
Special to the Gazette

Numerous burglaries have occurred in Camp County in the last month, and deputies with the Camp County Sheriff’s Department are asking the public to report any vehicles they normally don’t see in their neighborhoods or any activity they would consider suspicious.
“Deputy Andrew Pack took a report on Feb. 8, in reference to 13 units at a storage facility on U.S. Highway 271 North having the locks cut off,” Sheriff Alan McCandless said. “Deputy Pack was able to get in contact with two of the renters who stated items were missing from their storage units.”
Assorted clothing items were taken from one unit, and numerous folding knives and a samurai sword were taken from another storage unit.
The next day, Deputy Pack went back to the storage buildings after a witness observed a red Chevrolet Suburban parked in front of them.
