Tourism committee discusses upcoming events in Pittsburg
In the recent Tourism meeting Wednesday, Feb. 5, plans on how to encourage everyone in Pittsburg to include the Ezekiel Airship logo in all of their ads, stationery and so on was discussed. Also discussed was topic regarding the need for a skateboard park and needing more signage within and outside the city.
The committee consists of Fanny Hively, Rick Wall, Ann Reeves, Kathy Carpenter, Joe Harwell, Lane Garland, Judy Jackson, Robert and Carla Peoples, Brenda Barnwell, Julio Ramos and Allen Weatherford.
To start the meeting, members welcomed new members, City of Pittsburg Main Street Manager, Jenny Rowan and Los Pinos Winery, Gerald Jones to the club, reviewed minutes from past meetings and discussed the SFA project.
A part of the SFA project committee will be members Brenda Barnwell, Gerald Jones, Julio Ramos, Jenny Rowan and Judy Jackson. The committee must create a marketing plan to be evaluated by SFA team.
The discussions of three new logos were also brought up at the meeting. Julio Ramos reported on the progress made by the branding committee. The three new logos have been designed for the Chamber Board to review. Ramos will report back to the committee on this matter when more is known.
The members also agreed to host Pet Fest as well as taking the procedures to update brochures. Member Allen Weatherford volunteered to represent the committee at the Travel Show in Fort Worth on Feb. 21 through the 23. The cost would be $600 plus expenses. Dues are $225 for a year membership in Northeast Texas Tourism Council. The committee made a goal to getting a new cop for the next map publication and Ms. Reeves suggested printing postcards.
