It’s all about perception when it comes to politics

By Roy Knox

In politics perception is more important than substance
In 2005 Kanye West proclaimed to the world that George Bush doesn’t like black people. West eventually recanted the statement and apologized to Bush, but with no help from major media no one even remembers the apology.
It’s the perception liberals like to project, much like the Republicans war on women`s health/freedoms. The left will tell any women that will listen that all Republicans want to control your body and when they say your body they mean all women`s bodies.
It’s not true, but republicans appear to have little knowledge of “putting your best foot forward” when it comes to wooing the female independent voter. I liked the choice of Representative Cathy Rodgers to give the rebuttal speech to the State of the Union address by President Obama.
I thought Rodgers came across as honest and sincere; liberals called her ignorant. Ring a bell? That’s what they called former Governor Sarah Palin. In a Presidential election that was all about perception, Palin was the only one with any substance.
Not that she was even a good choice for President, but the other three were bozo’s. In fact wouldn’t you not describe the current federal government as a three-ring circus?
So how do you go about changing perception?
How about pushing those more than capable women and minorities out and in front of the American people. Make them the new face of the Republican Party. The gender or the race of a candidate is unimportant to me as long as I can identify with their ideas.
I’m pretty average in those respects, the better argument or idea (platform) is enough for me to vote for you. So what we are looking for is a candidate with substance that can be wrapped up beautiful, electable paper.
I would say it’s a shame it’s come to this, but the truth is it has always been this way. The Republicans just forgot.
• Governor Rick Perry issued the following statement regarding the U.S. State Department environmental impact study on the Keystone XL pipeline: Today’s report means radical environmentalists are running out of excuses for forcing the delay of a project that will mean more jobs for Texans and greater energy security for North America.
