Pittsburg has new main street manager

Jenny Rowan has accepted the position as the new Economic Development Coordinator and Main Street Manager for the City of Pittsburg. A reception to welcome Ms. Rowan will be at Pittsburg Pilgrim Bank Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m.
A born Texan, Ms. Rowan comes from Keller.
“I fell in love with architecture as a young girl, for I was always drawn to the brightness and beauty of historic buildings. Through my education in architecture I also developed a passion for community development through city planning. While not at work in my free time I enjoy reading about urban design concepts, film photography, camping, and archival research. In the future I strive to receive a master’s degree in public relations and urban development.
“I spent two years as an architecture major at The University of Texas at Arlington. Yet, it was there that I realized that my passion was not for the creation of new buildings, but for the preservation and revitalization of historic buildings and districts. Having realized this, I relocated to Cape Girardeau, Mo. and attended Southeast Missouri State University with the goal of becoming a full-fledged preservationist. While in Cape Girardeau, I worked closely with the main street board. Together, we made great strides in the general revitalization of main street through museum work, downtown restoration, design, and executive planning.
