The Pittsburg public schools rate as best in Texas

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) 2017 accountability report has been released and Pittsburg ISD has received many honors. TEA’s highest category is Met Standard. All Pittsburg public schools not only met their standard but in all cases surpassed it.

The Pittsburg High School has received a bronze medal from the U.S. News and World Report magazine. The U.S. News rankings include data on more than 22,000 public schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college. Pittsburg High School rated in the top 17 percent of U.S. schools.

TEA has measures they call safe guards. The higher in the grades the more safeguards and the tougher the requirements. Most schools in Region 8 received no ratings. Pittsburg High School met 35 of 38 system safeguards; received three of seven Academic Distinctions; Academic Achievement in Science
