The last public hearing for the construction of State Loop 255 was held April 27 to present the planned improvements and to allow for comments from the public on the planned construction.
The meeting was at the the Region 8 Education Service Center.
The planned loop will provide an east-west roadway between U.S. Highway 271 and Farm-to-Market Road 1520 for Camp County residents.
Camp County Judge A.J. Mason said the improvements are “positive.”
“I believe that this is a positive thing for our county in a couple of ways. Through the years before I did this and since I’ve been in this position, I’ve heard from folks that live out around the lake, and they’ve long been asking for a means of better access to that part of our county,” Mason said during the public hearing. “If they want to go to Mount Pleasant, they’d have to come through county roads or come all the way into Pittsburg and then up U.S. 271 and this would open that up for accessibility.
