Several capital improvement projects are planned for Broach Park complex in the near future.
The improvement projects include tile in the hallway, restrooms, closets and carpet for the six rooms in the multipurpose building; concrete paving on the west side parking lot, that will include striped parking spaces as well as numerous handicapped spaces; landscape and irrigation at approximately $20,000; thinning and cleaning out the wetlands; placing 24 tons of infield conditioner for the ballfields; replacing all field lights/ballasts currently not working; new tennis court nets; LED lighting for the west parking lot; and a low pipe guard for the parking lot in front of building on the north side of the west parking lot.
The projects are being made possible by a grant that the park board received.
Broach Park Board President Mike Reynolds said the multipurpose building is currently being used by the Pittsburg High School softball team and coaching staff.
“The multipurpose building currently is being used for the Pittsburg High School softball team’s dressing rooms and coaches. Once the new floor work has been installed, we will convert one of the other rooms into a park office, another room will be a meeting room and one room will be for storage for concessions.,” said Reynolds.“Park patrons have long desired for at least one of the two parking lots to be paved with concrete. Reynolds said the concrete will make the parking lot much more aesthetically pleasing as well as provide a safer surface.
