Camp County commissioners recognized the county jail staff and conveyed the county’s interest in the old ETMC-Pittsburg property to the Pittsburg Economic Development Corporation during their March 13 meeting.
After approving the minutes from last month’s meeting, County Judge A.J. Mason and the commissioners congratulated and recognized the Camp County Jail staff for passing their recent annual jail inspection conducted by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.
The inspection was carried out on March 3.
Camp County Park Director Rusty Ramsey appeared for Broach Park Director Mike Reynolds to inform the Commissioners that Jimmy Nickerson was coming off the Broach Park board and that there was no replacement for him at this time.
He also informed them that Ricky Parker, Kelly Smith and Jim Jordan will remain on the board for two-year terms that expire on Jan. 31, 2019. Commissioners approved the reappointments unanimously. In relation to Broach Park, the Court moved to an item concerning capital improvements for Broach Park. Ramsey told the Commissioners the park board has three items they are seeking approval on: concrete paving on the west side parking lot, lights for the west side parking lot and a low pipe guard for the parking lot in front of the building at the complex.
A motion was made by Precinct 4 Commissioner Steve Lindley to approve the requested capital improvements, was seconded by Precinct 2 Commissioner L.H. “Calhoun” Henderson and carried unanimously.
Commissioners then accepted into record of the court the racial profile reports for the sheriff and constable’s offices, which were accepted into the minutes.
County Auditor Nanette Wilabay updated the Commissioners on the 2016 financial statement and informed the Court that the statement has been submitted to Arnold, Walker, Arnold & Co., PC and the report should be submitted to the Court by May.
In addition, Wilabay updated the commissioners on the completion of the demolition of the old ETMC-Pittsburg property and she explained that there is about $30,571.50 still outstanding on the project and the final figures are pending from the City of Pittsburg.
The commissioners also, as aforementioned, voted to convey the county’s interest in the old hospital property to the Pittsburg EDC.
The motion was made by Mason, seconded by Precinct 2 Commissioner Steve Hudnall and carried unanimously.
Precinct 1 Commissioner George French made a motion to approve payments as presented to the court under the “approve and/or ratify payment of accounts, bills and payroll” agenda item. The motion was seconded by Hudnall and carried unanimously.
The court also considered a request from Tommy Eatherton for acceptance of a county road into Precinct 1. Eatherton is asking the court to start the three-year time frame for the county to accept his road into Precinct 1.
He stated that he had word with former Precinct 1 Commissioner Bart Townshend before he left office to build the road to county specification; it is a 20-foot asphalt road.
French and Hudnall determined they would check the road and let Eatherton know when the time starts.
