City to use funds for water infrastructure improvement project
By Cory Smith | news@campcountynow.com
The city of Pittsburg will utilize funds from a Texas Community Block Grant, if selected, for a water infrastructure improvement project in the area of Moore Park.
However, the funds won’t be available until fall 2018 due to the grant application process.
The Texas Department of Agriculture administers the grant program. The primary objective of the Community Development Block Grant program is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing and suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities principally for persons of low- to moderate-income.
Eligible applicants are non-entitlement cities under 50,000 in population and non-entitlement counties that have a non-metropolitan population under 200,000 and are not eligible for direct CDBG funding from HUD may apply for funding through any of the Texas CDBG programs.
Pittsburg has applied for the grant in the past and received some monies in 2014 for another infrastructure improvement project.
