ETMC Air 1 relocates to Pittsburg

One of ETMC’s Air 1 emergency helicopters has a new home base: ETMC Pittsburg. ETMC has been providing emergency helicopter services to the northernmost counties of its service area since 2005. “By having a helicopter in this region, we are able to make sure patients in critical emergency situations arrive at ETMC Tyler’s Level I trauma center within the ‘golden hour,’ significantly improving their chances for recovery,” said Kelly Cox, program director for ETMC Air 1. Having a helicopter stationed at ETMC Pittsburg will provide additional bene ts for patients, said J. Warren Robicheaux, hospital administrator. “We are excited to welcome ETMC Air 1 to the hospital,” he said. “Its presence on campus will allow for faster transfers from our emergency department. Additionally, we will be able to access the expertise of the ight crew in the hospital during trauma situations, and we’ll have even better integration of air transport with the hospital’s Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center.” “By moving the helicopter to ETMC Pittsburg, we save several minutes of ight time, and because of where the helicopter is located at the hospital, our crew can actually access the cra more quickly than at its previous location,” Cox said.
