Pilgrim recalls over 5 million pounds of pre-cooked chicken

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a ‘Class 1 Recall,’ with a risk factor of ‘High,’ April 7, and has now issued another Class 1, recall May 6, 2016, for a total of 5, 176, 844 pounds of chicken products. The first recall was issued April 7 was for 40,780 pounds, this recall was expanded on April 26, to an additional 4,524,980 pounds. is last recall issued on May 6, was for 608,764 pounds to reach the over ve million pounds. The first recall was for over 40 thousand pounds of cooked chicken nuggets, labeled as “GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Popcorn Style Chicken Patty Fritters.” According to Pilgrim’s Pride Corp headquarters now based in Waco, these were mainly sold to schools.
