A gas leak erupted west of town in the wee hours of July 26.
According to Chris Osthoff, the fireman on duty at the Pittsburg Volunteer Fire Department, the leak was discovered at 3:30 a.m., on one of the gas lines from Enbridge on County Road 1140, off of State Highway 11 West.
“One of their well heads broke off, and the 2-inch line was spewing hydrous sulfide gas, called H2S,” said Mr. Osthoff.
He said the line was fixed very quickly.
